Wednesday we had a staff potluck and brought in all kinds of different foods to keep celebrating our amazing dietary staff!

Krispy Kreme donuts were brought in for breakfast.
Fried chicken, meatballs, lil smokies, rolls, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, hashbrown casserole, pasta salad, ambrosia salad, chips and dips and several choices of desserts were on our potluck menu. Thank you to all who brought something in to help celebrate!

Tuesday was all fun and games for our dietary staff as they enjoyed a table setting relay game. Alaysia and Caleb competed against Dominic and Michael, the winners of that game was Dominic and Michael.

We played two truths and a lie and Dietary Manager, Leonard got the most guesses right and won that game.

Food trivia was another game & Lynn, won the gift card for that game.

Last but not least was a blindfolded candy tasting challenge, in which each player had to guess what candy they were eating. Alaysia was the winner of the gift card for that game.

We are proud to honor Taylor Pennie, recipient of the 2025 Innovation Award at LeadingAge Kentucky

For the past 10 years, Taylor has been a dedicated and compassionate member of our community, beginning her journey at the Best Friends Adult Day Center - Alzheimer's and other Dementia Care. From the very beginning, she has been a tireless advocate for elders, families, and staff—bringing creativity, heart, and a spirit of innovation to everything she does.

Taylor plays a vital role in planning and leading activities on our memory care unit. Her ability to design meaningful programs is enhanced by her experience as a Best Friends Master Trainer, where she has gained both knowledge and unique insight into the needs of individuals living with memory loss. She applies that knowledge every day, ensuring that activities are not only engaging, but deeply person-centered.

But Taylor’s impact goes beyond programs and activities. She has built close, trusting relationships with our families—listening, guiding, and walking alongside them in their caregiving journey. She has a gift for seeing each individual as a whole person, honoring their life stories, and helping them feel valued and understood.

Her compassion is matched by her innovation. Taylor has a “knack”—an ability to take what she knows and apply it in fresh, creative ways that truly make a difference. She inspires others to think differently, to try new approaches, and to always put people first.

Taylor Pennie embodies the very spirit of this award. She is not only compassionate and caring—she is an innovator who continues to shape better experiences for elders, families, and staff.

It is with gratitude and admiration that we celebrate Taylor Pennie, winner of the 2025 Innovation Award.

Congratulations to our October Employee of the Month, Heidi Flores!

✨✨She is one of our amazing CNAs here at Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods! She’s been with us since December and says it has been quite an experience working here. Being a CNA has taught her patience, empathy, and the importance of building trust with both patients and their families. For Heidi, this career is not just a job, it’s a chance to give back and provide meaningful care that helps others feel valued and supported. She likes traveling and doing adventures things like hiking or anything that involves getting out the house.

She is pictured with Executive Director, Denise Caton and Rebecca Coombs, our Director of Nursing! You are so deserving of this award and we are so proud of you!!

“Yesterday, I celebrated a decade of service with Christian Care Communities, and today, I was humbled to receive the Innovation Award from LeadingAge KY! As I reflect on the past ten years, I'm grateful for the mentorship of Virginia Bell and the opportunity to carry forward her legacy of relationship-centered care. I'm proud to be part of an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults.
I’m thankful for you, Denise! Your leadership, your support, your humor, and your passion. It’s because of you that bridgepointe feels like home. I’m blessed to work alongside so many amazing people! Congratulations to our September Employee of the Month, Leigh Ann Moore! 🥳🥳

Leigh Ann has been a nurse for 40 years. She started out as an LPN and is now an RN! She is married to her husband Rick (pictured with her). Her daughter is also a nurse. As well as her mom, sister and her sister in Law. Leigh Ann has 6 granddaughters ages 1 to 22.

Her first LPN job was in the newborn nursery at St. Claire in Morehead. She worked there a little over 30 years full time, as a single mom, also attending college full time. She then worked 4 years in the OR at St Joe's Main, eventually going back to St Claire where she was a House Supervisor until she left. She has experiences with working in Med Surg, OB, Cancer Treatment Center and Home Ventilator Care from 1984 to present.

Her aunt, a retired nurse, worked for Bridgepointe for 10 years and is the reason why Leigh Ann chose to work at Bridgepointe. She has been with us a little over a year now and enjoys caring for our elders. She has made some long lasting friends with the people she has worked with.

We are blessed to have Leigh Ann as part of our Bridgepointe family! Way to go Leigh Ann! 🥳🥳

Today is National HR Professionals Day & we want to recognize Miranda Perkins, our Human Resources Manager at Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods!

“I began my career in Human Resources four years ago and have been at Bridgepointe for almost a year. I am honored to serve both our employees and residents in my role as Human Resources Manager.

Working at Bridgepointe is truly rewarding both professionally and personally. My favorite part about Bridgepointe is the culture and family-like atmosphere. Knowing I am contributing to the journey of life for our residents, even if it’s behind the scenes, gives me purpose.

Some facts about myself is that I have a precious one-year old son, hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, and I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. I chose a career in Human Resources because I enjoy working with people and being an employee advocate, problem solving, and shaping company culture.”
