β˜€πŸ’œ What a fun day at the Millstone Festival in Richmond!

We loved meeting so many families, handing out stickers, and sharing smiles under our purple tent. From sensory bins to sticker bracelets (and even a pink llama πŸ¦™ sighting!), the day was full of sunshine and pure joy from start to finish.

πŸ’š Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and play β€” our hearts (and sticker bins!) are full!

πŸ’œ Did you know we offer support for Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs)?

Here’s a glimpse into a session with speech therapist Miss Leigh Ann, as she performs a TOTs assessment. ✨

TOTs occur when the soft tissues in the mouth (like the tongue, lip, or cheeks) are restricted by tight connective tissue β€” often called β€œties”. This can limit movement and make nursing, feeding, swallowing, and even speech more difficult.

Our team provides both pre- and post-operative therapy, including gentle stretches inside the mouth and guided exercises to prevent reattachment and support healing. Therapy also helps strengthen oral motor skills for better feeding and speech.

πŸ‘„πŸ‘… Wondering if your child could benefit from a TOTs evaluation? Reach out today β€” we’d love to help you schedule an evaluation!

πŸ’¬ October is AAC Awareness Month! πŸ’œ

AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) gives children and adults tools to express themselves in ways that work best for them β€” because every voice matters.

Here are 5 facts about AAC: πŸ‘‡

1️⃣ Augmentive = used to support speech & Alternative = used in place of speech

2️⃣ AAC doesn’t take away from speech.. it supports it! Kids can use both together to build communication skills.

3️⃣ AAC comes in many forms: picture cards, sign language, or tech devices like iPads with communication apps.

4️⃣ AAC can actually encourage speech development when introduced early.

5️⃣ Beyond words, AAC helps children share feelings, build relationships, and gain confidence in everyday life.

✨ At Marshall, we’re proud to support AAC users every day β€” because every child deserves the chance to be heard.

πŸ’œ Have questions about AAC or wonder if it might be a good fit for your child? Reach out to our team β€” we’d love to help!
