We've got a few new faces around here so we thought we'd take a moment to introduce ourselves and tell you a little more about who we are and what we do here at Hope's Embrace 💜🌿

We are a non-profit, community-based doula initiative created with one purpose in mind: to make support feel accessible, personal, and present for every woman who needs it.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive care and mentorship from pregnancy through the first year of life—because we know support doesn’t stop at birth.

We come alongside women in every stage— pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum— offering guidance, encouragement, education, and a steady presence through it all.

We believe every woman deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported in her journey into motherhood—regardless of her circumstances. This work is more than what we do… it’s who we are.

And it’s an honor to walk alongside you. If you've worked with us in the past, leave a "💜" in the comments! We'd love to hear from you!

What’s the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula? 🌿

Both support you… just in different seasons.

A birth doula is with you during pregnancy and labor. We help you prepare for what’s ahead, walk with you through labor, and support you in those first moments of meeting your baby. Think: education, encouragement, comfort measures, advocacy, and a steady presence by your side through your birth experience.

A postpartum doula steps in after your baby is here—when everything shifts and you’re learning your new rhythm. Think: emotional support, newborn care guidance, help with feeding, making sure you’re resting, and light support around the home so you can focus on recovery and bonding.

Birth doulas support you through the birth. Postpartum doulas support you once you’re home.

And truthfully… both matter more than most people realize. Because support shouldn’t end the moment your baby arrives 💜

If you’re not sure what kind of support you need, we’re always here to talk it through with you. Message us today for more info, we'd love to chat!💌

Such a good question—and an important one 💜

Midwives are medical providers. They deliver your baby and monitor your health.

Doulas are non-medical support. We focus on your comfort, educating your family, your emotions, and your overall experience.

Both roles are incredibly valuable—and together, they create a really beautiful support system.

Have more questions like this? Send them our way—we love helping you feel prepared and confident going into your birth 💭

💜 Why train with us at Hope’s Embrace?

Because we believe every woman deserves support in birth—and we want to help you be the kind of doula who makes that possible. Our team comes from all walks of life, and together we lift each other up, share knowledge, and show how doulas can make a real difference, especially where it’s needed most.

One participant said it best:
"The training really emboldened me. I felt confident and focused. I loved connecting with other women who see doula work the same way I do—serving all women, no matter their story or circumstances."

Looking to hire a doula? Here are a few questions worth asking before you decide:

🌿 What kind of support do you provide?
Every doula works a little differently—some focus on emotional support, others on education, advocacy, and hands-on comfort techniques.

🌿 How many prenatal visits are included?
These visits help you prepare for birth, talk through your preferences, and build a relationship before labor begins.

🌿 When do you go on-call?
This lets you know when your doula will be fully available and ready when labor starts.

🌿 What does partner support look like?
A great doula supports the whole room—helping partners feel confident, involved, and supported too.

🌿 What happens if you’re unavailable when I go into labor?
It’s important to know if there’s a trusted backup plan in place.

🌿 Do you offer postpartum support?
Some doulas continue supporting families after baby arrives with recovery help, newborn guidance, and emotional support.

Finding the right doula isn’t just about services—it’s about finding someone who makes you feel safe, heard, and supported every step of the way. 💜 We offer a variety of doula services here at Hope's Embrace! Contact us today to learn more!

So what does a doula do?

• We help you understand your options before you’re in the moment.
• We create space for you to ask questions and feel informed.
• We offer physical comfort — counter pressure, breathing guidance, position changes.
• We protect the atmosphere in the room.
• We remind you that you’re capable when things feel intense.
• We support your partner so they can support you well.

Birth isn’t just medical. It’s emotional. It’s mental. It’s deeply personal.

Having a doula means you don’t walk into that space alone — you walk in prepared, supported, and seen.

If you’re curious about what support could look like for your birth, we’d love to talk 💜💭

One of the biggest misconceptions about birth? That pain is the only thing happening.

Here’s what’s actually happening during labor:

Your body is working with intention.
Your cervix is softening and opening.
Your baby is rotating and descending.
Hormones are rising and falling in a carefully designed rhythm.

Labor isn’t your body failing. It’s your body functioning.

And when you feel safe and supported? Oxytocin (your body’s natural labor hormone) flows more freely. Which can actually help labor progress.

That’s why environment matters.
That’s why feeling heard matters.
That’s why support matters.

Birth isn’t just physical. It’s emotional and hormonal, too. Understanding what’s happening changes everything 💜🌿

Save this for later or send it to someone preparing for birth.

Let’s clear something up...💭💜

Doulas aren’t just for “crunchy” moms.

Hospital birth? Yes.
Epidural? Yes.
Scheduled C-section? Yes.
VBAC? Yes.
First baby? Yes.
Fourth baby? Yes.
High-risk pregnancy? Yes.
Unmedicated birth? Yes.

Support isn’t a personality type.
It’s not a birth preference.
It’s not a vibe.

It’s about having someone in the room whose only job is YOU.
Your voice.
Your comfort.
Your experience.

No matter how you plan to give birth — you deserve steady, informed, compassionate support.

If you’re building your birth team and wondering if a doula fits into your plan… the answer might just be yes! DM us “SUPPORT” and let’s talk.
