March is a time to celebrate the great profession of social work! The Social Work Department for the Village of Niles is led by Susanne Malone, LCSW. Niles Family Services includes several clinical staff who are available to assist residents with counseling, case management support and the use of the Village's food pantry. During periods of extreme cold, the Niles Senior Center-IL and Niles Family Fitness Center are available as warming centers during the hours listed below. If you need assistance after hours please contact Engage - Niles Family Services at 847-588-8460 and ask to speak with a crisis worker.

Please attempt to limit time outdoors during this period of extreme cold. In addition, please consider checking in on friends, neighbors, and loved ones to ensure they are safe and have the necessary resources.

Remember, if you, or someone you know, is experiencing an emergency please call 9-1-1 immediately.

During periods of extreme cold, the Village of Niles - Municipality offers warming centers at several locations within the Village.
The Niles Senior Center-IL can be accessed Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.

The Niles Family Fitness Center can be accessed Monday through Thursday from 5:30 am until 9:30 pm, Friday from 5:30 am until 8:00 pm, and weekends from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.

If you need assistance after hours please contact the Engage - Niles Family Services at 847-588-8460 and ask to speak to a crisis worker.

Remember, if you or someone you know, is experiencing a cold weather emergency please call 9-1-1 immediately.

Our Engage team was thrilled to join Maine East High School last week for one of their 'Healthy Families' workshop series. This event educated parents and students on the dangers, warning signs and resources related to va**ng and substance use in youth.

We were thrilled to provide information about community resources for treatment, Niles Family Services programming, Narcan training, and had local speakers share stories of hope and recovery.

The village of Niles is working to gather toys, and other supplies for kids and their families this holiday season through events and initiatives including Toys for Tots, Shop With A Cop, Operation Santa, and a Niles Family Services Winter Wonderland.

This past weekend, our third annual Winter Wonderland event brought holiday magic to life for families in Niles! Families with over 140 children in financial need picked out toys, made crafts, played games, and enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate. Children also had opportunity to pick out gifts for their loved one.

A special thank you to our community partners, volunteers and donors at Shure, Niles Fire Department, Niles Senior Center-IL, Saint Patrick High School, Walmart and Coca-Cola. We thank you for your time and generosity in making this event possible!
