We love seeing our graduates on paper! Congratulations Bridgette Ashley/Accelerated Equine : Massage & Bodywork for Horse & Human

I wrote an article on The Therapeutic Benefits of Equine Sports Massage. I was lucky enough to be published in the Lapeer Living - Best Version Media magazine.

Special thank you to Mary Chris Foxworthy for letting me work on her horses. HD Harkness - "Hark" is one of 2023 Breyer Horses and Rosie boy was such a peach.

Beyond the Lens Photographs did a wonderful job on these photos.

While this may be difficult to read, I am happy to send you the full article via email, if you would like.

What a busy past 3 weeks and still continuing with the local fairs and my clients helping them get their horses ready physically and mentally.

As I am getting older, my body is like “what the heck woman”, I can’t work the long days on horses like I used to. So I have to mindful about making sure I’m giving them my best and not over working myself.

I can’t believe I have been in this massage career for almost 10 years and been teaching for 7.
I learn from every horse something new. Horses have a way of making us humble.

Some of the students that come our way through the Equine massage program are just amazing horseman/horsewoman. Feel so blessed to be a part of their passion.

Congratulations to this cool chick-Natalie Martinez. Our newest CESMT.

Natalie & I managed to get through this past week with the smoldering heat, black flies and dirty ponies.
But we had a great time and lots of laughs.
We were very thankful for the air conditioning in the classroom.

Thankful for the air conditioning lounge today for class!

After much thought & discussion, Instructor Christy will be offering to teach at locations outside of her normal SW Michigan facilities.

What does this mean?

This means that is someone would like to host a Equine Sports Massage Course at their facility for 2024 outside of the normal facilities, Christy is open at looking at the options.

There are many people we talk to that can’t leave their location for an extended period of time due to their commitment to their barn and horses.

The facility & individual hosting the class will need to meet certain requirements for the class to go forward.

For more information, contact equinebodyworktherapy@gmail.com or FB.

If your dog becomes overheated - DO NOT spray or soak them in cold water or over their back.
First - get them out of the heat.
Run warm water lightly over there paws slowly or place a wet warm towel over there paws and lower extremities.

You can also place a warm towel around their paws and lower extremities.

I would recommend having a thermometer to take their temperature.

You want the body temperature to change slowly.

As a young girl, I learned from my mentor (that I still have as a older adult) when training horses or even just working your show horses the importance of getting them out of the arena.

What I mean by getting out is the arena is, take them for a stroll around the cornfield, go for a trail ride, ride around the yard, ride through the apple orchard close by, etc.

let them have a refreshed moment of just taking you for a stroll with no training being done or serious work. Let them take care of you.

Trust them & let your brain downshift too.

Let them have a loose rein, let them look around, let them sniff the ground, let them spook at the turkey that flys up from the ground.

The result - a happier horse, a better horse in the show pen.
So when cooling your horse down go for a ride somewhere outside of the arena or practice your showmanship pattern in the front yard instead of the arena.

Working with clients, this is something I really encourage to them. Some look at me like I am crazy for asking them to do such a thing LOL.

My show people, I tell them “your horse is exposed to 100’s of different people, horses, objects, dogs, noises, etc. it will be fine. I recommend taking a trail ride with a buddy as well for safety and more fun.
Yes I know some horses are scared of the great wilderness and wildlife, so it’s not for them but you can still switch up the routine.
