What would YOU do for a Klondike Bar?

We took the question outside today and our residents did not disappoint! Sitting in the sunshine, enjoying Klondike Bars, we heard some pretty hilarious answers:
“I’d kiss someone’s feet!”
“I’d chug a beer!”
“I’d eat a dandelion!”
“I’d race my wheelchair in the parking lot!”
“I’d kiss a polar bear!”
“I’d kiss a handsome man!”
…and let’s just say a few answers had us all laughing out loud!

Rain or shine, we know how to celebrate!
Today we treated our amazing staff and residents to a cookout… or maybe a “cook-IN” thanks to the rainy weather! No sunshine needed when you’ve got the delicious smell of smoked meats filling the air. A huge shoutout to our dietary team for firing up the smoker and serving up a variety of options!
And what better way to spend Tax Day than enjoying great food instead of crunching numbers? Now that’s a refund we can all appreciate!

Each month, we receive a SnackCrate box featuring treats from a different country. Our residents always look forward to discovering where we’re headed next and adding a new stamp to their “passports.”
We had so much fun sampling all the unique snacks and experiencing a taste of Greece together!

Yesterday was a day I will never forget!
When I came around the corner to my office in the morning, I was completely surprised by a group of smiling faces who had come in early & woke up early to celebrate my early 50th birthday — one week ahead of the big day! Somehow they managed to sneak into my office the night before and decorate not only my office, but the Activity Center as well. We then celebrated in the afternoon with cake shared with both our amazing staff and our wonderful residents. It truly meant so much to celebrate together. I felt incredibly surprised, appreciated, and loved. Moments like this are a reminder of how special this community really is. I am so grateful to work alongside such thoughtful coworkers and to share each day with our residents who make this place feel like home. Thank you to everyone who helped plan, decorate, celebrate, and make the day so memorable. I am truly blessed to be the Activity Director here at West Woods of Niles and to be part of such an incredible extended family. Kara
