Harlie's why 👇
"When you're pregnant everyone promises to be a village, then once the baby arrives that village, at least for me, slowly starts to dwindle. Motherhood, especially those early postpartum days/weeks/months, can be so isolating and it's hard to always know who you can reach out too. My hope for this support group is that we can be that point to reach out too, and no one feels they have to do it alone!!"

Support and encouragement are key factors in successful breastfeeding. A lactation consultant will address your breastfeeding questions and concerns, while actively helping you work on a feeding plan that works for you and your family. We ask that only birth people and their infants are in attendance, not support partners at this time.

Winter weather is in the forecast ❄️
As temperatures drop, it’s a good reminder to bundle up and take it slow when spending time outdoors or tackling winter chores like shoveling.

Cold weather and heavy snow can be tough on the body. Pacing yourself, taking breaks, and asking for help when needed can make a difference. And as always, check in on neighbors and loved ones who may need extra support.

Rebecca's why 👇
"Having struggled through postpartum depression with two out of three of my own children, I can't help but want to help other moms going through the same thing. In my experience, knowing I wasn't alone was one of the things that helped me the most. Having people to offer support and talk to, knowing they understood, made all the difference. I hope this group can offer a safe and healing place to anyone who needs it."

A Historical Center for Women’s Care

Bellevue Woman’s Center, a service of Ellis Medicine, is the region’s only inpatient facility dedicated to the care of women and infants - a trusted name in women's health for three-quarters of a century. Bellevue’s OB/GYN services include breast care, surgery, gynecologic care and maternity, and feature the region's first OB/GYN Hospitalist program to deliver enhanced care for pregnant women.

In 1931, Bellevue Maternity Home was founded by Mary Grace Jorgensen, a 28 year old registered nurse and mother. Following the death of Mary Grace Jorgensen, her daughter, Dr. Grace Gorgensen OBGYN succeeded her mother as president of Bellevue.

At the time, women generally gave birth at home, making Bellevue a one-of-a-kind institution. With six beds, and two nurses (one day, one night). It provided a safe, attended birth, with around the clock care. By the 1940s, Bellevue was referred to as “The Stork Club” by the community.

In 1973, Bellevue Maternity Home moved to the Bellevue Mansion and increased from 6 beds to 24. This year, 896 babies were born at the new location. In 2007, Ellis Medicine assumed responsibility of Bellevue Woman’s Center and we continued to grow and thrive in our community.
