Today's activities included creating festive Thanksgiving glitter globes to hang on our doors, which turned out to be a huge success. Additionally, we welcomed a new cook to our kitchen team. Diane, Rachel, and Conner worked together to prepare a mouthwatering meal consisting of corn beef and cabbage, accompanied by warm dinner rolls and a decadent upside-down pineapple cake for dessert. Judy and her guest visited us today, delighting everyone with their entertainment.

Today was extremely busy. Our day kicked off with an energetic dance party, featuring popular music from the 60's and balloon activities. We were treated to homemade Swedish Meatballs, accompanied by steamed vegetables, courtesy of Rachel and Conner. Today, we honored the sacrifices of our veterans and spouses. Our sincere appreciation goes to our friends at Moments Hospice for organizing a special service, which included the presentation of certificates and pins, in honor of their service.

Greetings to our Resident and Families at Hills Crossing,

I just wanted to give you a few updates to keep you in the loop of changes occurring at Hills Crossing.

Our Exciting Changes include:

1. As of today, we now have a cell phone that the care provider on duty will carry in Care Suites and a cell phone that the care provider on duty will carry in Memory Care. There are business cards in each entry way with these two numbers on them for you to help yourself.
a. Care Suites Cell Phone Number is: (218) 821-8517
b. Memory Care Cell Phone Number continues to be: (218) 821-8327

2. Today, they were here to install our new Key Pad to enter the main entrance to the building. It will be the same type of key pad that you use to leave the building and the code will be the same. This key pad is being added to continue to ensure that our residents and staff are safe. There will also be a doorbell added to each main entrance for those visitors that do not know the code to get in. This doorbell will alert staff, who can come and assist them.

3. If you haven’t notice already, we have added a TV in the Care Suites Dining Room, Above the Fireplace at the main entrance, and in the Memory Care Dining Room that show you our daily meals and activities. With this change, we will no longer have printed calendars posted.

4. I have very much enjoyed my time covering as the Director of Hills Crossing. The residents, families, and staff have been amazing to work with. The time has come to have a New Full Time Director on-site for Hills Crossing. Hills Crossing Senior Living is excited to announce that Kimberly Schnoor will be joining our amazing team as the Executive Director starting on Monday, November 10th, 2025. Kimberly comes to us with years of experience working in leadership. Kimberly will be off-site training this week. We will be having a welcome party on Monday, November 17th, 2025 from 3 pm to 4 pm with some yummy treats created by our rockstar culinary group for you to come and enjoy. If you can’t be here during the welcoming party, we welcome you stop by and introduce yourself to Kimberly at your convenience.

5. We are excited to announce that we have ordered new dining room tables and chairs. We are overly joyed for them to arrive in January 2026.

6. Lastly, Our Culinary magicians are starting to prepare for the Thanksgiving Feast. Please let us know by November 20th, 2025, at the latest, if you plan to join your loved one here at Hills Crossing for Thanksgiving Lunch. We will be serving at 12 pm. We began our day promptly, welcoming Luke and several Pequot high school students, who engaged in a game called True or Fowl. Barbara, our diligent flower caretaker, surprised me by sharing the news that our lemon tree was starting to bud, which is very exciting !! Janell, a nurse from Hospice, joined us today to review vital information with our staff, and, in honor of thirsty Thursday, we indulged in some goodies and beverages!!!

Despite the chilly weather, today was a beautiful day that Shirley was determined to make the most of. Lunch was outstanding, consisting of broccoli cheese soup, garlic toast, and a delicious salad. Addison and I had a great time playing the game Now and Then, during which we compared prices of different items from the 60's to the present, revealing some astonishing differences. We also had the pleasure of listening to the residents' stories from past decades. Subsequently, we worked on and completed a 300-piece puzzle.

Taking advantage of today's beautiful weather, we chose to clean and organize the shed. This was followed by a delicious lunch consisting of country fried steak smothered in brown gravy, mashed potatoes, and buttered carrots. As it was too pleasant to stay indoors, someone decided to make the most of the fall day while Addison and others prepared a fun game.
