A wise friend reminded me tonight to give myself a little grace when it feels like you're stuck in what feel like negative emotions and give up the fight on shutting them out, and invite some curiosity. Are they trying to show you some thing? Is there a deeper fear or emotion that's maybe harder to acknowledge? When we take the judgment out, "are these emotions and circumstances good or bad", allow your curiosity to push you, even when old behavior patterns and defense mechanisms provide the uncomfortable, yet predictably comfortable, offer direction down a well worn path. Are these fears and emotions driven by a previous version of yourself? I bet you have fought hard and made a lot of changes over the past months or years, even when they're hard to see or don't seem significant, give yourself the credit you deserve And acknowledge them. And then give yourself the freedom to use the discernment you have developed overtime. if you need a little guidance or support along the way, Delta MHS is here to serve in anyway we can. Big weekend ahead, sometimes the fun and celebrating can be just as triggering as the hard and ugly. Joy can be tricky like that. Keep your cozy things close and take care of yourself. Had a patient reach out, the question was "I want to change, but I'm scared. Tell me more." Here is my response, clarity of course provided by life and some wise friends who always speak the truth when I need to hear it. Only you can do it, but we're not meant to do it alone.
