Meet Kevin: An Enneagram 3w2 and a big fan of cooking, Teddy Swims, and teaching himself guitar when he’s not playing soccer or basketball with his boys.
Kevin didn’t always plan to be a counselor, but it was a natural transition from being an educator and working with high schoolers and their families. “We’ve all been in hard places,” he says. “Having someone walk alongside you in that? That’s a gift.”
When he’s not in the counseling room, you can find Kevin watching The Office, Severance, or planning a home project or vacation with his wife Jess. Kevin doesn’t follow sports... but is *very* supportive of your teams. Way to go with the sports balls, guys!
Misconceptions about therapy Kevin is quick to challenge? That therapy should last forever. Every journey is different, but he believes therapy should help you heal, not keep you stuck. “If you’ve been in therapy forever and you’re still in the same spot,” he says, “it might be time for a new therapist.” He also thinks some therapists may rush to label what might just be a normal response to a tough season. “Sometimes, life is hard—and what we need isn’t a diagnosis, but tools to cope and move forward.”
If you asked him to name dream lunch guests, he’d go with Steve Carell, Nick Offerman, Rainn Wilson, and Gordon Ramsay (An inspiring if not slightly unhinged hodge-podge of personalities at one table, but we don't judge).
Kevin is an indispensable member of the Anchor Creek team! We're lucky to have him.
