What is a growth plate fracture? We have an answer!

"During development, a child's long bones are able to grow because of cartilage-like growth centers that remain active until skeletal maturity. The physis, or growth plate, is susceptible to injury since this area of the bone is not as dense as the adjacent bone. Injuries within or across the growth plate result in separation of the physis from the bone and are considered a fracture."

Did you know we offer regenerative medicine? Check it out!

"Regenerative medicine is the science and medical practice of harnessing your body’s own ability to heal and “regenerate” itself, and to essentially supercharge its own healing powers. These capabilities include repairing or replacing tissue that has been damaged due to disease or injury. In orthopaedics, these treatments have been shown to work well in repairing injuries to ligaments, tendons, muscles, and joints, often helping patients to avoid surgery altogether. These methods give the body a chance to heal on its own. By employing regenerative modalities like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells, a doctor injects concentrated cells from the patient’s own body directly into the site of injury. The platelets have natural growth factors which are essential to healing. PRP therapy is especially heralded for its success in resolving or minimizing knee pain, but it also works in helping to heal other joints as well."

What is PRP? We have an answer!

"PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is used to facilitate healing responses for a variety of conditions. It is considered a biological therapy where a patient has blood drawn to be processed in a centrifuge. This allows the platelets and growth factors to be concentrated in order to be injected into a joint or tissue. Get in touch with an orthopedic physician from our team today."
