Hot take — most of us have nutrient deficiencies.

Especially in a day and age where we’re moving way too fast and food has become more about convenience than nourishment.

By all means, get back to nourishing your body with food. You will notice a change in how you feel almost immediately.

But there is also something to be said about working with a provider to identify the exact areas you need to address so you aren’t just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.

There are a lot of period care options out there. My main concern is the material of whatever you choose to use.

Organic cotton pads/tampons/underwear and silicone cups are my go-to recs. 🩸

Why it matters: Bleach and other yucky chemicals in our products enter our bloodstream and can cause a host of health issues. Our bodies (and hormones) deserve better.

Why do we do this?! Baffles me.

In my opinion, holistic health care is comprehensive health care because providers look at the body, its various organs, systems, and functions as a whole — not as separate entities.

Sure, we absolutely still need specialists. But we can choose specialists who are intentional about whole body health. We can also work with a functional provider who is able to help piece together our different symptoms or goals and offer a comprehensive approach to optimal, overall health.

This is one of the biggest reasons I love thermography.

You might come in for a specific reason or symptom, but with this thermal imaging technology, we are able to zoom out to see what the body looks like as a whole before addressing that one symptom or area. And often times, things are FAR more connected than you’d imagine.

I’ll share this client’s story in my next post. It’s a perfect example of how taking care of dental work can clean up the thyroid and the breast.

Gosh, we honestly benefit from these lamps year-round in places that don’t have enough natural light. But they are especially helpful during the winter months when many people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or versions of it.

If darker, shorter days get you feeling a bit off, try one of these lamps! I’ll link the one I have in my stories today, but just shoot me a message if you see this later and want the link.

Some other helpful things you can do:
- Don’t forgo getting outside! Get some sunlight on your eyes first thing if you can, or go for a little walk after lunch.
- Nourish your body with good, whole foods.
- Move your body!
- Take a vitamin D supplement.

Studies show there is a relationship between oral health and 90% of all systemic diseases in the body.

Here’s what you can do about it:
#1 Schedule a thermography appointment to see what might be going on in your body — areas of stress, inflammation, or toxic buildup throughout your head, dental area, thyroid, breast tissue, etc.

The Breast Study PLUS is a great option for this. If you’re wanting a more comprehensive look at the rest of your body, consider the Half Body or Full Body Study.

We’ll look over the photos together and talk through some simple lifestyle changes that will move the needle on your health goals.

#2 If you’ve been putting off needed dental work, find a holistic dentist near you and prioritize getting the work done. If you’re in middle Tennessee, check out .for.advanced.dentistry or .dental.

#3 Be intentional about your at-home dental practices and products. Consider how often you floss, what kind of toothbrush and toothpaste you use, etc. When cutting out toothpaste containing fluoride, you’ll want to look for other ways to remineralize your teeth. Toothpaste with hydroxyapatite is your new best friend.

#4 Try gentle lymphatic massage to keep bacteria and other toxins moving away from your mouth, and ultimately, out of your body. There are so many ways to do this. One quick way to get the lymphatic system moving is by using light touch down your neck and toward your heart.

Some of my snow day thoughts:

Any movement is good movement.
Any progress is good progress.
Normalize celebrating the smallest of wins.

Why?

Successful habits are formed in the little moments — small steps create BIG change. This applies to most areas of life, but most definitely in our health.

So, the next time you roll out of bed...move your body gently. Stretch your back. Notice your breath. Drink a glass of water before your food or caffeine. Go for a little walk after breakfast.

I promise you these simple choices, done consistently, will move the needle on your health goals and create lasting change that you can feel in your body.

I am taking things slower this week. And for me, that is progress! Celebrating that small win for my health.

That shiny black band on my finger actually helps me monitor my health.

While you should always be checking in with your body and listening to what it needs, this modern tool has been super helpful as a busy mom, business owner, and human!

Before my , I hadn't really noticed how my sleep was affecting me. For so long, I had neglected sleep due to raising small people, running businesses, and just needing to get stuff done.

Once I got my ring, sleep became a HUGE priority for me.

Wanna know why? I realized that every single time I didn't sleep well, I was completely jacking my readiness score (which tells you how ready you are for the day ahead).

I love being able to see how my lifestyle is affecting my body, and the Ōura ring is usually one step ahead of me. If I am not making wise choices, it will tell me...and then the next day I'll start to notice in my body. 😆 The same goes for fevers! A rare occurrence, but SO helpful to know before I ever start to "feel" it!
