Teaching Syllables Through Movement 👏

Watch how this simple pounding technique helps children feel and count syllables! When children physically tap, clap, or pound out each syllable while saying words, they're using multiple senses to understand how words break apart.

Try this at home: Grab some dolls or toys and practice during playtime! Have your child pound the table (or clap, stomp, jump!) for each syllable in the toy's name. "Po-ny-tail" = 3 pounds. "El-e-phant" = 3 claps. "Bear" = 1 stomp.

This multisensory approach helps kids feel the rhythm of language, not just hear it. You can add blocks or magnets to represent each beat—making it visual too!

Tip Tuesday with Yara! ✨

Our pediatric PT Yara is sharing 4 simple (and FUN!) activities you can do at home to help your little one develop better balance and coordination. No fancy equipment needed—just a few minutes of quality playtime!

💪 Single leg kicks
🧸 Toy sit-ups

🎨 Kneeling play

These activities work on core strength, stability, and body awareness while keeping your child engaged and entertained. The best part? They won't even realize they're working hard because they'll be having too much fun!

Try these at home and watch your child's confidence grow. 💚

A Note from One of Our Families 🤍

Raising twins who need therapy services isn't easy, but finding the right place can change everything.

One of our parents recently shared what keeps his family coming back to Leaps & Bounds.

"I believe it's not about being stern—it's the ability of therapists not to give up on the client, to push them past their point of 'you can do it, I know you can.' Not 'oh, he's having a hard time, we'll take it easy.' No, like he can do it, just stay consistent and do it."

He went on to say: "I've been very grateful for all the therapists that they've gotten to be with that have had that attitude of 'we're gonna work on it. I can see you're having a hard time, but we're still going to work.'"

Coordinating care for two kids means juggling schedules, makeup sessions, and last-minute changes.

"One thing that me and my wife have really appreciated from Leaps is your front desk is pretty amazing... doing everything to make our schedule accommodating for twins. Shout out to Danielle, who's always been a great one for us."

We're grateful for this family, and for the privilege of being part of David and Lucas's journey.

3 Myths About Hippotherapy - Busted!

🐴 Hippotherapy is more than just “horse riding.” It’s a powerful, evidence-based therapy that changes lives. Let’s clear up some common misconceptions:

💚Myth 1: It’s just horseback riding.
Truth: Hippotherapy is a clinical treatment provided by licensed Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapists. The horse’s movement is used as a tool to improve strength, balance, coordination, and communication skills.

💚Myth 2: It’s only for kids who love horses.
Truth: While many children enjoy the experience, hippotherapy is chosen for its therapeutic benefits, not as a recreational activity. It helps children with a wide range of diagnoses, from cerebral palsy to autism.

💚Myth 3: It’s not “real therapy.”
Truth: Hippotherapy is backed by research and integrated into treatment plans. It’s recognized as a legitimate, effective approach that complements traditional therapy methods.
