EVMS resident mixer at one of our favorite rooftop restaurants in Norfolk, hosted by the Resident And Fellows Association (RAFA)!

The Residents and Fellows Association (RAFA) is dedicated to the academic success, professional enrichment, community service and strengthened camaraderie of EVMS' residents, fellows and interns. The consult service rotation is a 2-3 month rotation where residents have the opportunity to engage in psychiatric care all around the hospital. Patients seen include catatonic patients receiving ECT, anorexic patients receiving PEG feedings that require complicated medication management, patients on the trauma service that have had su***de attempts via gunshot wounds and other self-inflicted injuries, intentional drug and/or medication overdoses, and patients with several comorbidities, such as epilepsy, dementia and multiple CVAs, that are actively psychotic. Patients are seen in the ED, ICU, on the OB/GYN floors, and throughout the medical and surgical floors. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn how to manage patients in the context of these patients receiving care for broader medical conditions.
