A little lunch break discussion surrounding therapy, ethics, and stigma.

Recently, there has been conversation and controversy surrounding ethics and licensure within the mental health community. Dr. Vaughan wanted to take a moment to share sound insight on the importance of seeking support from qualified and licensed mental health professionals.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s important that we remain informed, vigilant, and committed to protecting safe and ethical spaces for healing and care. 💚

Sometimes the way we speak to ourselves can shift everything.

Changing “I have to” into some “I get to” statements that helps us move from pressure, stress, and obligation into gratitude, grace, and healing. Small mindset shifts can create room for peace, growth, and self-compassion in our everyday lives. 🤍

Today, Cornerstone had the pleasure of connecting and networking with our community. Thank you to Norfolk Community Services Board for allowing us the time and space to share what we do with the city we serve.

The Mental Health Matters event created a meaningful space for connection, support, and valuable resources. We are grateful for every conversation and opportunity to engage with the community.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remember: children carry big feelings in little hearts. 💛

When we teach kids that their emotions matter, we help them grow with confidence, resilience, and kindness. Mental health is just as important as physical health and every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.

✨ Mid-Morning Check-In ✨

How are you really feeling today?

In dealing with mental health, it’s important to take inventory of your emotions and be honest with yourself about where you are mentally and emotionally. Self-awareness helps us recognize what we need instead of pushing through stress, anxiety, exhaustion, or emotional overload without acknowledgment.

When we become more aware of ourselves, we’re better able to:
💭 Recognize emotional triggers
🧠 Understand our thoughts and behaviors
❤️ Set boundaries that protect our peace
🌱 Give ourselves grace without guilt
⚖️ Prioritize rest, healing, and balance

Mental wellness starts with awareness. You can’t properly care for yourself if you never pause long enough to check in with yourself.

So here is your reminder to pause for a moment today and ask yourself:
“What do I need right now?”

As we explore mental health throughout the month of May, we’re taking time to center a conversation that matters.

Mental health in the BIPOC community deserves attention, compassion, and action. By breaking stigma and increasing access, we create space for real healing and meaningful growth.

Let’s keep the conversation going because healing starts when we feel seen, heard, and supported.
