Lydia Roper Home

Lydia Roper Home The Lydia Roper Home is far from the ordinary assisted living community. In the 1920's, it was built by Captain John Roper in honor of his wife, Lydia.

Owned and operated as a not-for-profit assisted living community by Pinnacle Living, the Lydia Roper Home in Norfolk, Virginia is a symbol of style and grace in a modern age. The purpose of the home was to provide a comfortable residence for older women, and over the years, this original intent has been preserved. In 1963, a grandson of Captain and Lydia Roper formally presented the home to the Vi

rginia Conference of The Methodist Church. The only condition made by the family was that the home continue to bear the name of Lydia Roper and remain a home for ladies. Pinnacle Living, formerly Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc., ensures that tradition continues. The ladies who live here share its large, pleasant porches and its peaceful, walled garden. More than anything, however, they share fulfilling lives in a welcoming, caring environment.
