We were proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the new location of the Sentara Wound Healing Center! ✂️💙

Located at 850 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, the new space was designed to create more room and improve access to care for our patients while helping us meet the growing demand for wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy across the region.

Our experienced team brings more than 120 years of combined expertise in wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, allowing us to continue providing high-quality, compassionate care to those we serve.

We also want to recognize and thank our partner, RestorixHealth, for their ongoing support and collaboration.

We are honored to begin this next chapter and look forward to continuing to serve our region in this new location!

A powerful day for women’s health in Virginia Beach! 🌸

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Her Health Summit, a free, multi‑generational event focused on breast and gynecological health across every season of life.

The impact was undeniable: 50 attendees, 89 total participants and 85+ screenings completed, including breast, colon, and bone density. Attendees called it “highly meaningful,” “truly amazing,” and said “no woman should miss this kind of FREE event.”

Thank you to our speakers. Thank you to Tidewater Community College for hosting. And thank you to the 24 resource vendors who participated, connecting attendees with local women's cancer support groups, local health professionals and leaders of women's health and cancer research programs.

We’re grateful for the shared learning, the powerful conversations, and strong turnout — and we’re already looking ahead to next year! 💪

We were excited to celebrate a special ribbon cutting with our partner, Morrison Healthcare, for the launch of a new self-checkout service in our café! ✂️☕

This new option allows team members working after café hours - including our dedicated night shift staff - to access food, drinks, and snacks anytime through a convenient self-checkout system. With this addition, the café is now available to staff 24 hours a day!

Thank you to Morrison Healthcare and everyone involved in bringing this new service to life as we continue finding ways to better support our teams around the clock.

We are one of eight Sentara Health hospitals that have earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for spring 2026! 🏆

Additionally, Sentara Leigh Hospital and Sentara CarePlex Hospital are 2 of just 11 U.S. hospitals with 29 consecutive “A” grades from Leapfrog.

This is the highest recognition for patient safety among U.S. hospitals and reflects excellence across 20+ evidence-based safety measures of preventable medical errors, infections and injuries.

A Virginia Beach family is turning unimaginable grief into action - advocating for mental health awareness in memory of their daughter, Alexa.

Alexa died by su***de at just 26 after battling mental illness and bipolar disorder. Her mother, Susannah Uroskie, remembers her as someone who brought joy to everyone around her.

For years, the Uroskie family searched for answers, unsure where to turn. They eventually found support through the NAMI Coastal Virginia chapter, where Susannah now serves on the board. Alexa herself became a volunteer and advocate - helping others even as she struggled.

Sentara Health continues to focus on behavioral healthcare with redesigned emergency department spaces for safety, opening new care centers, and increasing staffing.

Last evening, we came together to recognize the importance of mental health and the power of community support.

Our campus will remain illuminated in green throughout the month of May in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month - a visible symbol of our commitment to reducing stigma, encouraging open conversations, and supporting access to care for all.

Construction in our main lobby vestibule is underway now through July 31 as we work to enhance our space for patients, visitors, and staff.

During this time, you may experience increased traffic in the main lobby, along with some congestion and possible delays at check-in for outpatient appointments. Please plan to arrive a little earlier than usual to allow extra time.
