Even The Grinch couldn’t steal our Christmas joy! 🎄💚 He stopped by with some admirable attempts to cause mischief, but this hospital was bursting with too much holiday cheer for him to handle. Instead, The Grinch spent time visiting patients and staff, all under the watchful (and very prepared 👀) eyes of our security team.

Did he succeed at stealing anything? Well… he did manage to snag a cookie from one of the gingerbread houses competing for the top spot in this year’s contest. 🍪🏠 We’ll call that a small win for the Grinch.

Turns out, hearts (and spirits) grew three sizes that day! ❤️🎁

With over 26 years of experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Linton is eager to get to know the teams who make Sentara Leigh special and help build on our strong foundation of quality and patient safety.

🌟 What he’s looking forward to:
Supporting provider engagement and wellness, strengthening teamwork, and exploring ways to improve the patient experience.

🚀 What motivates him:
He’s energized by the transformative advances coming to healthcare and is passionate about helping teams thrive through change.

👨‍⚕️ About him:
Originally from Miami, he enjoys running, reading, traveling, and mentoring students. He and his wife have 25-year-old boy/girl twins.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S.—but early detection can save lives. Low-dose CT (LDCT) scans can find lung cancer at earlier, more treatable stages, yet only about 10% of eligible people get screened.

Who should get screened? You may qualify for LDCT if you:
• Are 50–80 years old
• Have a 20 pack-year smoking history
• Are a current smoker or quit within the last 15 years

Smoking is the #1 cause of lung cancer, but others include secondhand smoke, radon, air pollution, asbestos, and family history. Even people who never smoked can develop lung cancer.

Only 32% of hospitals nationwide earned an “A” in patient safety this fall, but Sentara Leigh Hospital has done it 28 times in a row. 💪 That makes us one of only 11 hospitals in the entire country to achieve this record of consistent excellence.

An "A" Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade recognizes the highest standards in patient safety. This means fewer preventable errors, shorter hospital stays, and more patients going home healthy.

A royal celebration for a very special arrival! 👶✨

This week, the Theta Chi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. at Old Dominion University celebrated their 103rd Founders’ Day with a heartfelt tradition at Sentara Leigh Hospital — honoring the first baby girl born on November 12 with a special “Rhoyal Baby Blessing.” 👑🍼

Parents Naveen and Hema of Chesapeake were delighted to meet the sisters of Theta Chi, who arrived with carts full of gifts, from baby clothes and diapers to bottles, wipes, and even a bouncer. Their generosity filled the room with smiles!
