This is going to be a bit of a stressful week/month - just tons on the to do and not enough time to do it all. So this is a reminder to me as well as you!
Our bodies fluctuate between "fight or flight" or "rest and digest." If a bear jumped out of the woods, you need to fight it off or run away! But once you are in a safe place, your body should go back to a more calm and restful state.
These days, our "bears" don't always go away. Whatever is happening in your brain is happening in your body too.
Maybe I'm the only one, but during times of stress.......I reach for a more coffee instead of my water...I push against bedtime trying to fit more in or being a slug on the couch feeling braindead...I snack more and it's definitely not the healthy snacks...I skip time for myself because it doesn't feel "productive" enough...and the list goes on
Sometimes stress helps us rise to the occasion accomplishing more than we thought we could! But it is a balance.
Leaving your body in a constant stressful state can leave you exhausted and run down.
This is when I tend to get a few more body aches than normal. Which of course makes me even more stressed because I don't feel good while I have so much to do!
So this is my reminder to me and my reminder to you. Take a moment, even a brief one, to reset and not run yourself into the ground.
The more you practice deep breathing or mindfulness or meditation, the more efficiently and quickly you can shift yourself into a brief moment of calmness.
Easier said than done! And so many more complexing factors than just this. But help yourself break the cycle. Don't let it spiral out of your control!
