We’ve added one more group to our Saturday lineup! The Teen Space is a participant led social group held on select Saturdays. These kids focus on connection and friendship, horsemanship skills, physical activity, and an overall love of being outside with the horses. This group also has the opportunity to participate in a monthly group riding lesson with the on site riding instructor. Feel free to reach out for group dates, cost, and registration information!

Take a look at our next session of groups!

There's something special that happens in our group sessions at Roots & Reins 🐴 We see kids cheer each other on, share laughs, work through hard moments, and build real connections along the way. We see confidence grow, friendships form, and kids finding their voices - sometimes without even realizing it's happening. And the horses? They have a way of sneaking in the biggest lessons about trust, patience, and understanding...all while kids think they're just hanging out at the barn.

Today was the last day of groups for the session! 🐎

We continue to work on horsemanship skills while building confidence and self-esteem, emotional awareness, and strategies to manage stress. Our younger participants took the horses on a hike in the woods, and our teens participated in another group riding lesson.

Our next session will begin the first week of May, and we will be adding some new groups to our program! Stay tuned for details!

Trust isn’t something you can rush..it’s something you earn. This young lady has known Axel since I got him. She’s been patient, kind, firm on boundaries, and has worked hard to earn his trust. During our session, Axel plopped down for a nap. My client asked what would happen if she went to sit with him and I told her I wasn’t sure, but she should try. And this happened…this moment reminded us both that healing and trust happen in their own time.

Saturday groups are so much fun! Our Tiny Trotters continue to work on learning horse body parts, safety, and leading. Axel was a good sport and let the kids label him with sticky notes. 🤣

Our older group was tasked with creating an obstacle course that they would then complete with Oakley and Axel. Of course they had to test it out themselves first! This activity was a group favorite 😊

This week our homeschool group had a lesson in groundwork with Alyssa from Balanced Beginnings. Everyone had the opportunity to learn how to lead their horse at the walk and trot…but first they had to practice on each other! 😂

Saturdays are for groups! It was the first session for our Tiny Trotters. We discussed horse safety, how our behavior influences the horses, and learned horse body parts. The kids were fabulous listeners and earned their “horse safety star” pins.

We welcomed back the Rising Riders and will be focusing on groundwork skills, horse safety, and mindfulness. 🐎❤️

After what feels like 97 days of mud, gray skies, and freezing cold weather, we FINALLY had a warm, sunny day for our group session. ☀️ We soaked it up and the horses got a nice, long grooming session. Crossing our fingers for many more Saturdays like this!
