Since 2009, the Heartland Academy for Learning Opportunities has provided postsecondary opportunities to students ages 18-28 with intellectual, cognitive and developmental disabilities. The HALO 2-Year students got together last week for an end-of-year hang out in Pontiac. The Pontiac students got to show off their community for their Normal peers. We toured Heartland Community College Pontiac and visited several local attractions, like the Route 66 and Auto Museums. We ended with lunch at B's Rally Point.

Miss Rajani supports IPSE because it expands opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead fuller, more independent lives. By teaching essential everyday skills, building confidence, and improving access to employment, IPSE helps students manage their own lives with greater pride and success. It also makes the transition into adulthood easier, more realistic, and more manageable.
