Beginner stretches everyone should try! (From a massage therapist) 🧘

This version of “pigeon pose” can be practiced seated anywhere and is also utilized to alleviate sciatica. The demonstration here emphasizes how the back muscles extend and stabilize the hips so you can twist and reach without “throwing” out your back. It is often poor form paired with this motion in daily activities that causes this issue.
In stretches of the lower body, if you spread your toes so much that your pinky toe comes up higher than your big toe, it activates a muscle group in your outer shin that stabilizes your knee and moves the stretch deeper into your hip.
