Grace Garden Yoga

Grace Garden Yoga Kundalini Yoga taps into the innate energy that lives within each of us that is awakened, harnessed and used to take us into our deeper, true self.

In Kundalini Yoga we are working to release and circulate energy. In doing so, we must avoid the "mistake" of focusing entirely on the physical aspect of the posture. If we become preoccupied by what our bodies do (or don't do) the flow of energy becomes restricted. We must start by accepting and enjoying what we are able to do each moment, with each breath and with joy and love.

They are so good for you - I planted my own this year.

We get a lot of questions about how to i.d. elderberry ~ both when the bushes are in flower and in fruit.
Elderberry does have poisonous look-alikes, so we're happy to know folks are being cautious. We love the illustrations for identification in Foraging & Feasting's gorgeous cookbook and field guide.
Be sure to gather elderberries when the fruit is a rich, dark purple-black. It's easiest to snip entire berry bunches into your basket, but when you prepare them for use try to separate out as many stems as possible (they have some toxicity). Additionally, elderberries need to be cooked or tinctured to neutralize the belly-aching compounds found in the berries themselves.

Sat Nam yoga friends. I hope you are enjoying our beautiful Oklahoma spring. Grace Garden is on the verge of exploding into the lush and green safe haven that it so predictably does every year at this time.

I am posting to let everyone know that Kundalini Yoga at Grace will be on hiatus this season. I am feeling the need to turn my focus inward and work on some things within my own life, body and practice. Those of you who know me, know it's really hard for me to admit that I need to take that special time just for me. I feel somewhat selfish in doing so and I've tried to ignore the urge, but those urges from within one's soul can't be pushed aside for any length of time. I have been wrestling with this decision for the past couple of months, seeking and giving it a lot of thoughtful consideration. Now that Spring Equinox has come and gone, I really feel that this is my calling for the next year of my life. The universe has revealed to me several things that I need to put my energy into in order to recharge and renew myself and my own practice on this path. I appreciate your encouragement and positive vibes.

I'm so grateful to the amazing yoga community in Norman and all the yogis who make this wonderful practice available to us. I would like to remind you that Yoga in the Park meets daily at Lions Park at 5:30 pm and is FREE to everyone. There is a facebook dedicated to all the locations and I encourage you to check it out.

Thank you so much for being a part of Grace Garden. I will continue to make posts on our page and look forward to hearing from you.

Much love,
Mahina

We will be having full moon meditation at Grace Garden, indoors, at 6:30 pm tomorrow, Tuesday. You may park at the church at Berry and Boyd and walk over if there is not room in the driveway, which will accommodate 3 cars, 4 if compact.
We will start with a simple warm up followed by 31 minutes chanting meditation, deep relaxation then warm yoga tea.
Hope to see you there!

well, i'm going to go ahead and cancel our class for tomorrow evening so you can make plans to get to a class in elsewhere, What I love about this community is the many options that are available based on your needs or schedule,

It think that is very safe to assume that our summer Grace Garden Class has come to it's end. I have not had a promising response regarding the regular meditation classes for Thursday, so I'm continuing to feel that out.

I will say that personally, I am getting into the fall/winter "must go inward and sleep mode" but I'm working on keeping things lined up to keep me busy. I have several reading projects to get done, as well as the mala and jewlery making stuff. My plan is also to continue full moon meditations. I will, however keep everyone posted.

I will be coteaching the third weekend this month for the newly started teacher training for KY, being taught by my teachers from KC up at 3rd street Yoga. It will be a year long program. I am also taking a lithotherapy class to help with studying and understanding and using all the wonderful elements, crystals and minerals that the great Mother Earth has provided as tools to assist our daily practices. I look forward to sharing this information with you all as well,

I encourage you to continue your daily practice and support the other studios and such that have such amazing teachings and teachers and classes to join in. It's been a great summer. I look forward to moving my focus inward and then hearing your experiences as well, so please stay in touch. I will be sending emails out about full moon meditations, etc.

Take good care and I will see yall out and about soon,
SatNamastae!
