We’re so excited to welcome Emily Forbus, PT, DPT, to the Total Performance Physical Therapy team!

Here’s a little about her:
👉 Why PT? Inspired by her days as a competitive gymnast, she saw firsthand the power of rehab and always felt called to help others heal. A quick Google search in high school sealed the deal — PT was her passion and purpose!
👉 Clinical interests: Vestibular rehab, geriatrics, and treating a wide variety of diagnoses.
👉 What she loves most: Building real relationships with her patients; seeing people beyond the diagnosis and helping them get back to doing what they love.
👉 Fun fact: She’s lived in 3 states, moved 5 times, and was a Kentucky State Champion gymnast 3 years in a row! 🤸‍♀️

Look out for warning signs like unusual tiredness, persistent aches, frequent illness, or complaints of pain that won’t go away. 🏃‍♀️💤

Encourage rest days, proper warm-ups, smart conditioning, and good nutrition. And remember — pain isn’t just part of the game. Starting 4–6 weeks before the season with a tailored PT program helps their body adapt safely and build strength, balance, and endurance.

Are you experiencing low back pain with exercise? Try these core activation exercises: the goal here is to ensure your core muscles are working and protecting your spine during activity. Think “belly button to spine” before you do any exercise at the gym. Try 2-3 sets of 10 for each of these.
