Supporting Our Community During the Federal Shutdown

Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP (food stamp) benefits will be temporarily stopped beginning November 1st and will resume only after federal funding is restored. Unfortunately, EBT networks may also be shut off at grocery stores and retailers, which could prevent the use of any remaining balance on EBT cards after October 31st.

At Central Behavioral Health, we understand that the inability to purchase food or access basic necessities can have a profound impact on emotional and mental well-being. To help support our community during this challenging time, we’re partnering with the Patrician Society Food Cupboard to collect non-perishable food donations throughout the month.

Donations can be dropped off at any Central Behavioral Health building, or you can contribute online through the Patrician Society’s Amazon Wishlist:
https://lnkd.in/edECyQMm

Every contribution, big or small, helps fill shelves and bring comfort to families in need. Your support can bring hope and stability to those who need it most.

🚨 Beginning November 1, 2025, new federal rules will change how long some Pennsylvanians can receive SNAP (food assistance) unless they meet new work and reporting requirements.

New Work and Reporting Requirements:
If you receive SNAP, you must report at least 20 hours per week (or 80 hours per month) of work, education, training, or volunteering if you:
Are 18–64 years old
Do not have a dependent child under 14
Are physically and mentally able to work
❗ SNAP recipients who do not meet these requirements may receive only three months of benefits within a three-year period ❗

Exemptions from Work Requirements:
(You may be exempt if you meet any of the following)
Live in a SNAP household with a child under 14
Are unable to work due to a physical or mental health condition
Are pregnant
Are needed at home to care for someone ill or disabled
Are receiving or applying for Unemployment Compensation
Are unable to work due to domestic violence
Are participating in a drug or alcohol treatment program
Are homeless, in a shelter, or temporarily staying with family/friends (90 days or less)
Are temporarily unemployed but expect to return to work within 60 days

At Central Behavioral Health, we recognize that these changes may create uncertainty and challenges for many individuals and families. We’re here to help you stay informed, connected, and supported.
