Happy Sunday, friends!
I know I have been MIA for a few weeks but life has been a little heavy.
I lost my great - aunt who I was very close to. She lead a vibrant life of 95 amazing years and I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories of her. Now she is at peace with my grandmother and all of their siblings , my dad and all of her dear friends.
As I handle her affairs and sort through the pieces of a life so beautifully lived, the weight of grief shows up in waves. Some moments are filled with memories and gratitude, and others feel heavy and overwhelming.
In the middle of it all, I’ve been turning to my workouts as a way to clear my head and find a little steadiness. Movement has become my quiet space to process, breathe, and release emotions I don’t always have words for. Even when motivation is low, showing up for a short workout helps me feel grounded.
Grief and stress don’t just live in the mind — they live in the body. Elevated stress increases cortisol, our primary stress hormone, which can disrupt sleep, energy, and recovery. It can also affect leptin and ghrelin, the hormones that regulate hunger and fullness, which is why appetite can feel so unpredictable during emotional times.
Understanding that this is a normal biological response has helped me give myself more grace.
Right now, my focus isn’t perfection — it’s care. Care for my family, care for her legacy, and care for my own health while I navigate this loss.
If you’re walking through grief or in a high stressed situation, be gentle with yourself. Small acts of movement and self-care can be powerful anchors when everything else feels uncertain.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday !
