So inspiring.

Virginia "Ginny" Oliver is 105 years old and she still works on lobster boats. Ginny was born on June 6, 1920, and started working on lobster boats at just 8 years old. Now, she still heads out onto Penobscot Bay in Maine three days a week. She even hauls lobster traps with her nearly 80‑year‑old son Max, and he proudly works alongside his legendary mom.

Ginny and her late husband raised four children. They bought their home on the same street where she was born, and today her grandchildren still love visiting her house. Every Sunday night, the family gathers to enjoy her famous homemade baked beans, cakes, donuts, and brownies.

She doesn’t plan on retiring though. When her doctor asked why she still lobsters, she laughed and said, "Because I want to." She also said, "You're not gonna live forever, so why let it bother you?" Ginny is doing what she loves the most. Without even trying, she's inspiring so many other people to keep going and stay active.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sher for several years. She has created some personal guided meditation experiences for me that have been extremely impactful. The process starts when you have an extended conversation with her where she asks about what’s going on and what your process is like currently. The questions she asks to clarify what is important about what’s going on in your life and how you are thinking about it is pretty amazing. She finds just the right way to pinpoint what’s going on for you so that it can be reflected in the guided meditation she creates. She has great intuition, where she keeps clarifying what’s happening until she finds just the right way to interpret your situation and where you want to go in the future. After that, she creates a relaxation tape that really allows a person to shift their mindset about what might be going on and helps one get ‘unstuck.’ I have had one tape in particular that basically was one of the more impactful things I did to get me over and out of feeling badly about a significant relationship ending. Everything is specific to the individual, and each guided meditation is created for the person and their specific experience. What Sher does is truly unique and I feel really thankful and lucky that I have been able to have her help me deal with some things that were difficult. It’s so nice to have something fit so perfectly for what’s going on in a person’s life and help them move to a higher vibrational level.

In preparation for the holidays (which are racing towards us at light speed, aren't they?) I'm going to offer a FREE STRESS REDUCTION HYPNOSIS mp3 recording to those who feel like they could use a little "mental tune-up" around now.
Also, I will post a suggestions as to how to find calm when we might feel the need.
The first is the PAUSE. My clients often hear me recommend this. Just stop what you are doing and for 30-60 seconds just PAUSE. BREATHE. We spend so much time, racing around, with generally racing thoughts (Did you know that research now shows that we each have as many as 60,000 thoughts a day?) Perhaps notice how you are feeling, where the tension may be hiding in your body. Just let go briefly. You will notice you get better at this with practice. Just BE for 60 seconds throughout your day and you will find that this supports your ability to remain calm.

HELP WITH UNHEALTHY HABITS (behavioral and emotional) is a common request from my clients, so consequently over the years, I’ve had this conversation hundreds of times in my office:

It’s important to remember that our brains build mental patterns extremely well. In fact every thought, feeling, and behavior you’ve repeated a few times (for ANY reason) begins to build neural pathways in the brain. This means that even patterns you DON’T want are reinforced through repetition - even when you are completely unaware this is taking place.

Think of those neural pathways that have been built in your brain like train tracks. Every time the train goes down the same track at the same speed in the same circumstances, that particular neural pathway gets strengthened. Or perhaps
Imagine running a bicycle wheel through mud in the same location over and over and over. The depth of the rut will deepen with every repetition.

Sometimes this automatic and very powerful process causes us to experience negative emotions or unhealthy behaviors that are truly only created by our past. This is what my clients would like to change.

What I focus on for my clients is using Hypnosis to go deeper than the conscious mind and focus on building new positive and healthy neural pathways in the brain; Also through repetition and reinforcement - only this time YOU CHOOSE the mental patterns you wish to create and strengthen. By relaxing deeply and allowing me to guide your mind toward what you WANT, NOT WHAT YOU DONT WANT, your mind will build new neural pathways , just like it has done previously.

When I meet with a new client, I always discuss Brain Waves. These states of mind effect us throughout every day and night. We have been trained to think of our mind as only our CONSCIOUS MIND, however that is only one of our many states of mind. It's extremely powerful to understand that we can purposefully use our different brain wave states for different purposes. Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy access the slower brain wave states, because in these slower states, our deeper mind is more accessible. By using this truth for our benefit, we are able to make positive changes in our lives with less effort, less struggle and MUCH more success!

What is hypnosis do you ask? Hypnosis is simply a state of mind - a natural state of mind. It relates very closely to that state of mind you may experience right before you fall asleep at night. A "twilight" sort of feeling where you may feel like you're asleep, but you're aware of thinking, so you know you're awake. And even though what we call 'HYPNOSIS' is a normal and natural state of mind, it is very powerful. Because in THAT state of mind we can change the mental patterns that may be driving us in an unhealthy or negative manner. It truly is a game changer, and has been for the hundreds of clients I've supported in their journey over the years.

How do YOU handle stress? (if you have any) Do you talk it out with people around you? Do you go for a walk?
Or do you, like many of us, have a history of reaching for unhealthy substances or lying awake at night?

Tapping into our subconscious mind can make a huge difference in changing these old patterns. The truth is that challenges are inherent in being alive. Some are inevitable.

They differ for each of us, their timing is different for everyone, and the magnitude of each challenge varies significantly.

But what they do have in common is how they can interrupt our healthy, happy lives.

I just moved into my new office in Asheville NC. It’s very sweet - has lots of “soul”. After almost 20 years of helping clients improve their lives through a more positive mindset, I know that this is my calling.

PIVOTING FOR LIFE

So let’s discuss what I mean. I first heard the term “pivoting” from Esther and Jerry Hicks as one of their Law of Attraction techniques. It struck a chord with me and clearly it has stayed with me for years as one way to improve mood, outlook, even outcomes.

The term refers to the ability to refocus the mind on what we want, instead of what we don’t want. So imagine there is a stick or a plank, and on one end is what we are observing/feeling/thinking right now - what we don’t want. And on the opposite end, are the thoughts, feelings, experiences we DO want. So really all we need to do is PIVOT - turn the stick or plank to the other end. Easily, simply and gently. Obviously, this is sometimes easier said than accomplished, but you get the point. I believe it is possible, it just requires a tremendous amount of practice to allow that simple technique to truly improve our lives. Practice and the intention to live a healthy, calm life - no matter what. I know, it’s hard to believe, BUT -

What if it actually were this simple? What if you could change any aspect of your life that you wish to improve upon by PIVOTING? (At least one method)

Now, I don’t believe it is truly that simple. Because our minds, with all of the old thoughts/feelings and behaviors are in many ways being run by old neural pathways. It’s as if those old thoughts/feelings/experiences are on train tracks in our mind, and they are rushing forward in an out of control way. To feel like all we need to do is think differently is a bit naive. Instead, lets consider allowing Pivoting to become a piece of the puzzle. A means of transforming the present moment into something better, something more resourceful, more positive with ease.

We’ve all been at stages in our lives when circumstances seem overwhelming, when challenges are just too much to find our way through; When we struggle to find solutions that don’t seem to appear.

So if we can pivot in that moment in another direction, simply turn and look in a different direction, perhaps things will look/feel better.

Perhaps it is pivoting in another geographic direction - moving. Perhaps it is pivoting to another job, another approach to your current job. Perhaps it is simply attempting to look at another person differently - or yourself differently. Maybe it is seeking a completely new approach to whatever you have been doing the same way for FAR TOO LONG. Maybe it is changing everything at certain times.

Remember, your mind is extremely powerful and in truth it develops mental/emotional patterns PERFECTLY through repetition and reinforcement. It’s been accomplishing this incredible task since the moment of your birth. Every thought, feeling, behavior that you have repeated in the past requires very few repetitions, in fact, to build the neural pathways required to automatically repeat this thought/feeling/behavior in the future - without any conscious thought at all. It’s feels automatic and natural to us to have our own particular perspective on almost everything in our lives, right? This is why our expectations, desires and even results will be very likely duplicated time and time again.

We may even continue to find similar relationships and challenges showing up (seemingly randomly) in our lives. WE are doing the same things over and over and that similar person is finding us miraculously. WE are thinking in similar ways. Or does your life seem to follow a pattern - that you don’t want? Do you do well for awhile, then suddenly (It seems) the same difficulty from your past shows up again?

We’ve all had these experiences - it’s when the challenges become almost insurmountable or so often repeated that I think it’s time to PIVOT.

For me, the bottom line is using ALL techniques you have in your mental arsenal. Use hypnosis (or your hypnosis recordings), use EFT/Tapping, use relaxation, use affirmations, use prayer or meditation to focus your mind. And hopefully you can now add PIVOTING TO YOUR ARSENAL.
