Tomorrow marks a very special day at our office (but we are celebrating today!). We celebrate the first 20 year anniversary of one of our staff (if you don’t count Dr. Allen)! Jennifer is our amazing referral specialist. If your child has ever needed to see a specialist or have a CT, MRI, or ultrasound or needed speech, occupational, or physical therapy, she is the person who takes care of all of these requests for your sweet kiddos! She started off 20 years ago working the front desk for Dr. Allen two offices ago! She has helped us make two moves to two new offices, and as she worked over the years, she learned so much that she transitioned into the referral specialist role. We joke that she can never leave because her brain serves as a computer and holds all of the knowledge as to which specialist takes which insurance and who can see which kids the quickest for different problems. Without her, the office would definitely not run as smoothly and efficiently! She truly gives her all at this job, and she does it to help each and every child get the help they need as quickly as possible! Thank you, Jennifer, for your hard work, dedication, compassion, and friendship over the years! Here’s to the next 20 years!!

One year ago today, we all woke up to the most extreme devastation that many of us will probably ever see in our lifetime. Hurricane Helene caused extreme destruction, chaos, and sadness. But from this desolate place, the most beautiful thing emerged. Our community rose up to face this devastation with utter strength and kindness! Neighbor helped neighbor. Stranger helped stranger. Businesses helped people, and people helped businesses. We saw countless people helping cut down trees just to make roads passable. The extreme conditions that line workers and cable workers had to face was unimaginable. All of the countless hours that emergency personnel and government workers had to put in to help everyone in our area seemed neverending. We had so many people donate supplies like formula, diapers, and wipes for children in our community. (Even some of our amazing formula reps and lab reps came by to give out supplies.) TrueNorth Church graciously opened their doors with welcome arms so that we could see sick children in our community to relieve some pressure from the ERs. Churches, the Y, and the American Red Cross fed people, clothed people, and offered shelter and warm showers. We will never forget how our community came together in such a trying time and showed that it truly can be “A Wonderful World.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We wanted to share this lovely book, Possibilities, that was written by a patient’s mom. Her daughter, Alyson, was a beautiful patient of ours, and her mother wrote this book to help shine her light. She hopes the book will help facilitate acceptance of differently abled individuals so that others can see there is more to them than a disability. She wants everyone to see that they are filled with endless Possibilites.
You can find it in paperbook at Amazon or in hardcover at Barnes and Noble.
(A percentage of the proceeds goes to The Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation.)

**Update: We have someone taking the cat home! Thank you to everyone for sharing! He's a super sweet kitten who let us all hold him and pet him and just purred and rolled biscuits.**
Our office staff noticed an orange kitten in the parking lot yesterday. They weren’t able to catch him, but a trap was brought today to catch him and was successful! Now, we need some help in finding someone to take it. The North Augusta Animal Shelter doesn’t have room and Molly’s Militia can’t take him until two weeks or so. Anyone know of anyone else? He’s absolutely adorable! (Calling him a he since most orange cats are boys, but we aren’t sure!) Video in the comments!
