This group just loves playing dominoes! They start early and play until lunch. After lunch, they play until dinner. It is hard to pull them away from a good game. They are so funny, and a crowd starts to form just to hear them cut up and laugh. Some days there are more people watching than playing. They are having too much fun to start a second table of players. They just pull up a chair and help whoever is in the game. Just being in the same room, it is hard not to laugh at the banter between players. If you come for a visit, expect to be invited to join in the game. They love to teach you to play as much as they love to play.

Mother's Day hand mirrors was the craft for today. We decorated the back with flowers, trim, stickers and pearls. What beautiful pieces of art each one was. These may be gifts for some daughters and daughters-in-law, so please act surprised. This will be our secret. Mum's the word.

Brian and Fran came to do a small church service for us. They sang hymns, prayed with us and read from the bible. These are friends of one of our residents, and we are grateful that they have opened their visit to include more of the residents. Everyone enjoyed singing along with Miss Fran and Brian. What a wonderful visit it was!

Easter bunnies for everyone! 🐰 We started with wooden bunnies, added a touch of creativity and turned them into beautiful spring decorations. Each bunny has its own personality, and they sure do multiply! Everyone had a wonderful time bringing these festive creations to life.

It's National Vietnam War Veterans Day, and we want to take the time to highlight one of our Vietnam War veterans, Roger. Roger lives at Brookdale Reidsville. He enjoys calligraphy and watching sports. Thank you to Roger and all of our other Vietnam War veterans for your service!

We love seeing our residents connect and form new friendships, and that's just what Ozzy and Pat have done! They became fast friends after moving into Brookdale Lakewood. It's been so special to watch their connection grow as they get settled into their new home.

The community has several turtles that the residents spoil. They leave fruit and water in the garden for the turtles. Everyone loves to show off the turtles to their families. All the kids that come to visit are always on the hunt to find where the turtles are hiding. We saw several today that are on the hunt to find them all.

We did several Easter crafts today. We made bunnies that jumped into flower pots and rabbits whose belly were Easter eggs. Our favorite was the decoupage eggs made with a blue willow pattern. They look very expensive! Each resident picked what they wanted to make and enjoyed watching their creations come to life.

Starting the day off in prayer with Tobin and his wife, Ruth. They are from Victory Baptist Church and have blessed us with Hymns and stories from the bible to inspire us. We enjoyed this visit and look forward to having them return again. Thanks for sharing your time and prayers with all of us.

Welcome to our newest resident, Dianne, and her faithful friend, Buddy. They are both adjusting well to their new home and have been welcomed by everyone. Buddy has helped Ms. Dianne become friends with everyone they’ve met. He is friendly and gives kisses to anyone who pets him. It is great getting to know them both!

Brookdale Bend has a few special residents that bring joy to all! The Chickens of Brookdale Bend get regular cuddles and care from our residents. These are definitely the happiest chickens we've ever seen, and the residents look pretty happy too!

This Women's History Month, we are incredibly thankful for all of the women who paved the way for the young women of today to accomplish their goals. Paula is one of these women. She was an engineer for the United States Air Force and the first woman to fly in a combat aircraft. Watch to learn more about Paula's inspiring career.
