More people are living beyond diagnosis, supported by advances in early detection and treatment. This month, join us in honoring survivors, supporting those in care, and remembering those we have lost.

During Health Literacy Month, use “Ask Me 3” at your next visit so healthcare conversations become a clear plan you can follow at home and in clinic. Ask:
• What is my main problem?
• What do I need to do?
• Why is it important for me to do this?
Close the loop before you leave by repeating the plan in your own words and writing it down. Ask Me 3 is an Institute for Healthcare Improvement - IHI program designed to improve patient and provider communication and help you use health information in daily life. Stay steady and independent with small, proven changes. For Falls Prevention Awareness Day, remember that more than one in four adults 65 and older falls each year, but most falls can be prevented. Build balance with simple daily movements, ask your care team to review any medicines that cause dizziness, schedule an eye and foot check, and make small home updates like better lighting, grab bars, and handrails. If you have fallen once, tell your care team so they can check why and help you stay steady on your feet.
