Can Hypnosis Really Help with Weight Management?

Yes — and science is catching up to what many people already experience firsthand.

🌀 Hypnotherapy taps into your subconscious to gently shift habits, manage emotions, and build body trust.

Here’s what the research shows:
✨ Improves eating behaviors + reduces emotional eating
✨ Supports long-term behavior change
✨ Boosts self-control and mindfulness
✨ Lowers markers of inflammation like CRP
✨ Can change hormones like leptin + irisin that affect satiety

🔬 A 2018 clinical trial found that participants who learned self-hypnosis lost more weight and had lower inflammation than those using diet alone.
📚 The Department of Veterans Affairs even lists hypnosis as a safe, effective tool for weight and stress management.

Best of all? There’s no shame, guilt, or “quick fixes” — just self-compassion and a mind-body approach that works with you, not against you.

These tools aren’t a sign of weakness—they’re your secret weapons. For people living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), adaptive aids like ring splints, compression sleeves, and ergonomic grips help prevent dislocations, reduce pain, and preserve energy.

✅ Ring splints can stabilize hypermobile fingers and reduce joint strain during typing or writing.
✅ Compression sleeves offer gentle support for unstable joints, improving circulation and reducing fatigue.
✅ Ergonomic pen grips make writing easier on sensitive hands and prevent overextension.

You deserve to feel supported in the body you live in. These aren’t crutches—they’re tools of empowerment.

It’s not about restriction—it’s about supporting your hormones.

“Meno belly” isn’t just about calories. It’s about how your body processes fuel and stress during this hormonal shift.
Here are 6 habits that help:

1. Sleep at the same time nightly to support hunger hormones
2. Load up on anti-inflammatory foods (Mediterranean Diet)
3. Move daily—especially strength + walking
4. Hydrate often
5. Practice stress relief (try breathwork or hypnotherapy)
6. Ask your provider if a weight management medication may be right for you.

You deserve a plan that respects your biology.
You are not failing. Your hormones are shifting.

💡 Did you know your body tries to make up for the drop in estrogen by increasing estrone (a weaker, more inflammatory form) made in belly fat?

It’s actually an ancient survival mechanism. But in modern life, it feels like a betrayal.

Add in:
🔸 Higher testosterone (hello PCOS & perimenopause)
🔸 Lower sleep quality
🔸 Stress-driven cortisol spikes
…and it’s a perfect storm for abdominal weight gain.

But the good news? You can work with your body, not against it. More on that tomorrow. 💪

I recently asked over 450 women navigating menopause:

“If you could wave a magic wand and make your biggest menopause challenge disappear, what would it be?”

🥇 The top answer? Abdominal weight gain.
Not hot flashes. Not mood swings. Not even sleep.

Nearly one-third of respondents wished they could magically erase the weight that seems to gather and stay around their midsection.

📊 On average, weight increases by about 1.5 pounds per year during the menopause transition, typically leveling off two years after periods stop. But more than the number on the scale, many notice their body shape changing, especially a shift in weight from the hips to the belly.

Let’s be clear:
You’re not imagining this.
You’re not lazy.
And you’re definitely not alone.

Hormonal changes during menopause—particularly declining estrogen and a rise in estrone (a weaker but more inflammatory form of estrogen, contribute to this change. Elevated stress hormones can also make belly fat more stubborn.

Not sure whether to grab a heating pad or an ice pack?
👉 Heat can ease stiff or aching muscles.
👉 Cold can reduce swelling and numb sharp joint pain.

✨ Try both—alternating can work wonders. Your body will tell you what helps most. A little relief goes a long way.

Struggling with Hair Loss? Here’s What You Can Do.
From minoxidil and spironolactone to pumpkin seed oil and red light therapy—hair loss treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some, hormone therapy helps. For others, managing stress or correcting thyroid imbalance makes the biggest impact.

Hair loss during perimenopause and menopause isn’t just about vanity—it’s a visible sign of deeper hormonal shifts. If you’ve noticed a widening part, more hair in the shower, or general thinning, you’re not alone, and your concerns are valid.

Hormones like estrogen, testosterone, and cortisol all play a role. Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL), often tied to androgens like DHT, is especially common in women with PCOS, affecting up to 42.5%.

But it’s not just about androgens. Low estrogen or chronic stress can also shift the balance.

Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome often means waking up with a body that doesn’t match your plans. One moment you feel capable. The next, a small task can leave you flared, fatigued, or in pain for days.

That’s where pacing comes in, not as a limitation but as a form of protection and partnership with your body.

Think of your energy like a battery. Each task, showering, cleaning, even texting, uses a little charge. And when that battery runs low, pain tends to rise. Instead of pushing until you crash, pacing means taking intentional breaks, switching between physical and low-energy activities, and resting before your body is forced to.

This isn’t about laziness or giving up. It’s about creating space for steadier, more sustainable days. Pacing may not erase the pain, but it can give you more control over how it shows up in your life.

👉 Save this post as a gentle reminder to recharge before you hit empty. Your energy is valuable!
