Lifting during pregnancy can be completely safe and a great way to maintain functional strength that will help with childcare.

Pregnant people are strong and resilient! Not to mention immediately postpartum your body is introduced with the challenge of lifting a 7-10 lbs baby 24/7, lifting car seats, strollers, moving boxes of diapers, etc.

Having an awareness of proper lifting mechanics can reduce injury during pregnancy and postpartum.

Dealing with doming or bulging in your belly? Try this taping!

Cut 6 strips around 8-10 inches in length out of kinesiotape (KT Tape). You want to anchor the strip on either side with no stretch on the end of the strip. Give the piece a gentle stretch across the belly in a diagonal direction then stick without stretch on the end. Repeat this creating a woven look and giving the belly support.

Hovering or squatting over the toilet can lead to incomplete bladder emptying and urinary urgency.

In order to p*e, your pelvic floor muscles need to relax. We can facilitate pelvic floor muscle relaxation by:

*deep breathing 🫁
*leaning your trunk forward ⏩
*placing your feet flat on the ground 👣
*sitting down on the toilet🐒
*avoid kegels or pushing to p*e 🥵

Relaxation is 🔑to P*E

Travel can impact your p**p for a few reasons. Change of diet, routine, time zone or hydration levels can impact your ability to stay on your regular p**p schedule. Try these tips!

1. Use something under your feet in those hotel bathrooms to make a DIY squatty potty.

2. Try to grab some fresh fruit from that continental breakfast for some fiber and hydration.

3. Keep up your fluid intake aiming for 50-70 ounces per day to keep your stool soft. A little miralax may help keep your stools soft too!

4. If you have to go just go! Do not try to delay your p**p if you get the urge. Whether it is in a public restroom or your shared hotel bathroom just let it go!

Use coffee as a pick me up?

Coffee can also stimulate your bowels to move through the gastro-colic reflex. For some people even just the smell of that familiar taste can trigger the reflex.

Your colon performs contractions that moves food through your system and can make you p**p. Some studies have said coffee can have this effect within 4 minutes after the first sip.

Don’t like coffee? Try drinking some warm tea, a warm cup of water, perform a colon massage, or take a brisk walk to warm up your gut.

Belly weighing you down?

Try wrapping a scarf or sheet under your belly, behind the back, and over your shoulder. Pull up on the fabric over your shoulders and feel the weight of your belly lift. This can help give relief to the ligaments in your abdomen and give your back a break!
