Around the world in a week! 🇵🇱 🇮🇪 (Post 3/3)

Louise was our big winner for attending the most themed activities for our "Around the World Week". She had her passport with the most stamps and won a $25.00 gift card. It was fun week with education programs & trips, but also dancing, food, a party.
Some of the other highlights we had this week was our Irish hooley happy hour, our polka social, and a polish themed lunch for our men's luncheon where we had perogies and kielbasa.

Around the world in a week! 🇺🇸🇬🇧(Post 2/3)
Part of our "Around the World Week" we went on some exciting trips. For America's themed activity we went to see America's favorite pastime... A BASEBALL GAME! We had a great day with Danbury Senior Living Tallmadge watching the Akron Rubber Ducks win against the Chesapeake Baysox.

Later in the week while acknowledging the UK we went to watch a phenomenal performance by the Beatles tribute band "Hard Days Night" at the Plain Township Amphitheater. The band played familiar songs from "Love Me Do" to "Hey Jude" and had amazing costumes that changed through the concert in chronological order. It definitely was an exciting night to an amazing week!

Today is National Senior Citizens Day!

In 1988 President Ronald Reagan declared August 21st to be National Senior Citizens Day. This day provides an opportunity for individuals and communities to show appreciation for seniors and to promote a more inclusive society for aging individuals.
Here at Danbury North Canton we make everyday a great day. This community is a perfect example of promoting a society that appreciates our seniors. Whether it's taking a trip down the road to the McKinley Museum or taking a day trip to Amish Country we give the residents in this community a day to remember. Whether it's music entertainment or an educational presentation it will be an experience. And lastly whether it's euchre night or painting self portraits of each other it is social. Here at our building everyday is Senior Citizen Day and we want your loved ones that live in this building to have something to look forward to and to remember each day.❤️

Around the world in a week!🌍🇷🇼🇺🇬🇿🇦 (Post 1/3)
Part of our "Around the World Week" we had many activities that gave us a perspective of another culture or helped us learn about that culture. Here are some highlights from our African themed activities. We had musician and educator Carl Winters perform and teach us how to play the kalimba/thumb piano. We also had two speakers one being Kent State student SiSi from Rwanda & one of our residents Carol who lived and taught in Uganda. We got to hear about their living experiences and what it's like in both countries.
What a great learning experience for us all and we will be sharing more from our exciting and educational week soon!

Merry Christmas in July! A few weeks ago Danbury North Canton celebrated a week of fun festive activities that got us in an early "Christmas Spirit".
We went to Amish country where we visited the Christmas store, Tis the Season. We made Christmas cookies, pinwheels, and a joyous party at the end of the week with entertainment by Tom & Janet where everyone dressed up with Santa hats, Christmas sweaters, and even Ryan our Life Enrichment Director dressed as Elf on the Shelf.

What a wonderful evening outside enjoying piano music by the fire with Classical Pianist, Adam Bergeron and some gooey tasty marshmallows.
Our resident, Jim was our "Cheif Fure Maker" for the evening. It was a night of fun for all who came to enjoy the outdoors with us.🎶🔥🍫

We had Spirit Week this past week having a different theme every day. We started with "Tie Dye Day" by making our own tie dye clothing, followed by "Hat Day", "Wacky Hair Day", "Jersey/Sports Day", & lastly "USA Day" where we had a patriotic Happy Hour.

It was a fun week where the residents and staff got dressed up and had a blast taking part in each day's theme. So much fun to see what everyone was going to wear each day.
