A new discovery at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center could improve how we treat childhood leukemia.

Dr. Sophie Paczesny and her team have developed an immunotherapy that blocks a key signal used by leukemia cells to grow and avoid treatment.

This research could lead to better outcomes for children with acute myeloid leukemia and may apply to other hard-to-treat cancers.

We love seeing our patients out in the community doing what they love!

Mac is one of our heart patients at MUSC Childrenā€™s Health. He was born with a complex congenital heart defect and had three open-heart surgeries before the age of three. He visits us each year for follow-up care, and we are always proud to see how well he is doing.

Recently, Mac spent a day on the water with Cornerstone Charter! It was a great way for him to enjoy the outdoors and explore his interest in marine life.

It only takes one case to remind us how quickly measles can spread.

South Carolina has just confirmed its first measles case of 2025. Across the country, cases have surged to the highest level in more than 30 years.

Dr. Stephen Thacker from MUSC Childrenā€™s Health says, ā€œI think this case serves as a great reminder for everyone to make sure that they've protected themselves through vaccination, if they can safely receive it, to help prevent the spread.ā€

Just what the doctor ordered: puppy snuggles. šŸ¾

Miler Wren Westbrook was all smiles with therapy dog Ember during a visit to MUSC Children's Health R. Keith Summey Pavilion.

Miler is currently seeing multiple MUSC Children's Health specialists after being diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency, and this visit was for a check-in with Dr. Libby Infinger in Neurosurgery. We're grateful to be part of her care journey and to have sweet Ember on hand to bring a little extra joy along the way.

MUSC's Emergency Management team, MUSC, and MUSC Health leadership teams continue to carefully monitor the path and potential impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.

All ambulatory facilities in the Charleston area will be closed on Wednesday, August 7. Appointments will be conducted virtually, if possible, or rescheduled. Please check your MyChart for updates on currently scheduled appointments.
