We’re excited to share that Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville is now officially a Heart Safe School!

Sudden cardiac arrest affects nearly 1,000 people every day in the U.S. Even though all South Carolina schools have AEDs, many people aren’t trained to use them.

That’s why MUSC and Project ADAM created Heart Safe SC. This program helps schools develop strong emergency plans, train staff and students, and practice drills that can make a real difference during an emergency.

The end of a golden era for a very special pup! 🐾

Baskin, one of our first hospital dogs sponsored by the Dunkin' Joy In Childhood Foundation, has officially retired after more than 5 years at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

From easing anxiety during procedures to spreading joy through our hallways, Baskin left a pawprint on all of us.

Baby girl Hayes Miller Hammond is the first baby born at MUSC Children's Health in 2026. She arrived at 3:45 a.m. on January 1, weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 19.25 inches.

Welcomed by proud parents Kara and Chris Hammond, Hayes rang in the new year surrounded by expert, compassionate care from our labor and delivery team.

Congratulations to this beautiful family and to the care team who helped make her arrival so special.

Kids under 15 make up about a third of all fireworks injuries, and even small sparks can cause serious burns.

At MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, our pediatric burn team treats hundreds of children each year, from minor injuries to more serious burns.

This year’s Good Night Lights finale was our biggest yet! ✨

With more than 100 first responder organizations, Santa lifted by Charleston Fire Department’s Tower 105, and our Meducare helicopter joining in, it was a night full of smiles, lights, and community spirit at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and gave their time to make this year so amazing.

For nearly two decades, Corey Brown has been part of the holidays at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

By volunteering his time to photograph our patients with Santa and printing each photo the same day, he gives families a moment and a memory to hold onto.

Music therapy is such a fun part of our Arts in Healing program at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital! 🎶

Last week, we visited a pediatric cardiac music therapy group for some of our long-term patients. Watching the kids light up as they played instruments, sang, and simply got to be themselves was such a treat.

Our board-certified music therapists, including Meredith Harvey, support children across the NICU, PICU, hematology/oncology, and acute care, with their work also continuing in outpatient and community programs.

Every December, first responders and community partners bring a little extra magic to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

Good Night Lights 2025 has given children in the hospital a chance to connect with the world outside, wave their flashlights, and feel the support of their entire community.

The final Good Night Lights event of the season will be on Monday, December 22 at 7:45 p.m. EST.

From handmade ornaments to unique toppers, each nurses’ station at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital received its own Christmas tree, thanks to the generosity of Hilton Head community organizations.

These groups poured their hearts into creating decoration kits and sponsoring trees with a variety of themes, including sea turtles, colorful art, and even watersports.
