"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." - Proverbs 16:9
These words of wisdom have been particularly true for my family this last year as we received an unexpected answer to prayer. Our prayers and focus last January were all towards improved health. We attempted a new diet and changed up our sleep routines, but the Lord revealed the real cause of our health issues in May when we discovered black mold in our home. What followed was a 6-month remediation process that had us living outside our home while the remediation and renovations were underway.
Now, another verse tells the story of why God's plans for us last year were better:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
(2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
We serve a God who is not content with surface-level change or New Year's resolutions that swiftly fade. Praise God for hearing our prayers for health and providing us with a bumpy road to get there.
