🍂 October is here 🍂
A gentle reminder: You are allowed to change. You are allowed to grow. And you are allowed to let go.

This month, I’m choosing peace over pressure, healing over hustle, and gratitude over guilt and I invite you to do the same. 🌻✨

✨ I’m also accepting new clients this month. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, I’d love to walk with you!

🌟 Monday Motivation 🌟
As a therapist, I remind my clients (and myself!) that healing doesn’t mean rushing. Some weeks are for growth, others are for rest.

✨ This Monday, give yourself permission to move at your own pace.
🧠 Mental wellness is a journey, not a race.
💬 Be kind to your mind today, you’re doing better than you think.

🖤❤️💚 Happy Juneteenth 💚❤️🖤

As a Black Mental Health Counselor, I honor this day not just as history, but as a call to healing.
Freedom was delayed, but it wasn’t denied, and neither is our right to rest, feel, and heal.

Mental health is Black liberation.
Therapy is resistance.
Healing is ours.

Signed,
A proud, powerful, purpose-driven Black therapist.

Happy Father’s Day to the men walking in their God-given purpose, leading, loving, and covering their families in prayer. 🙏🏾💙

To every father, grandfather, and spiritual father: Your presence is powerful. Your healing matters. And your faith sets the tone for generations.

As an LPCA, I honor the fathers doing the inner work and trusting God through the process. Keep pressing! Your legacy is greater than you know.

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7

💪 Men’s Mental Health Matters 💙

Too many men are suffering in silence.

• 1 in 8 men experience mental health challenges.
• Men are less likely to seek help for depression, anxiety, and trauma.
• Su***de is one of the leading causes of death for men, especially between ages 25–55.

It’s time to break the stigma.

👉 You don’t have to “man up.” You need to speak up.
👉 Strength is not in silence, it’s in seeking support.
👉 Your emotions are valid. Your healing is possible. Your life matters.

🖤 To the fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, partners, and friends;
You are seen. You are needed. You are not alone.

As an LPCA, I often see stories like the one told in Straw, stories of deep pain, unresolved grief, and mental health struggles that go unnoticed until they explode.

In Straw, we witness how suppressed grief, trauma, and unmet emotional needs can lead to mental health breakdowns. Janiyah, in particular, shows signs of complicated grief, a prolonged, intense sorrow where the person is unable to accept the reality of the loss. This can lead to disassociation or living as though the loved one is still alive.

Tyler Perry’s film reminds us that “the last straw” isn’t just about one moment, it’s about accumulated pain that was never addressed. That’s why therapy, community support, and honest conversations about mental health are so vital, especially in communities where we’re often taught to be strong and silent.

This film is a reminder that your pain is valid. Your story deserves to be heard. And healing is possible, with help.

If this movie stirred something in you, know that you’re not alone. Grief doesn’t have to be a life sentence. It can be a doorway to growth, if we’re willing to walk through it with support.
