A modern-day barn raising! At approximately 3:35 p.m. yesterday a group of volunteers, under the direction of timber framer Ian Ellison, raised one side of the barn. The historic barn was moved from land that is believed to have belonged to William and Anne Nickerson's son William in the 17th and 18th centuries. Pieces of timber have been found to date from the mid-1700s to the 1830s. The barn raising continues today (Sunday) with the second and final frame to be raised at about 10 a.m. Stop by for a look!
