2 Days. 8 talks. With 💪
Last week, Sara C, LAT, ATC, talked about Essential Injury Prevention Tips for Young Female Hockey Players, shedding light on some subjects that aren’t talked about enough in adolescent female sports.
She touched on:
✔️Overtraining 😮💨, under recovering, and underfueling 🥙 (lookup “the athlete’s plate” on the website www.usopc.org/nutrition)
✔️SLEEP 😴 and its important role in injury prevention (2014 study by Milewski et. al)
✔️T.W.O. (Time with opposites) and taking time for activities 🧗♀️outside of hockey (using other muscle groups to develop new skills, learn to adapt, and balance the body’s strength)
✔️Menarche and how the menstrual cycle affects young female athletes and incidence of injuries (start tracking your cycle if you don’t already!) 📅
✔️Posterior chain strength (posture, glutes, and hamstrings) 🏋️♀️
✔️Core control (it’s not just sit-ups and planks)🏄
Thanks to all the hockey players that came to learn how they can help reduce their risk of injuries just by learning and implementing a few of the behaviors they can control starting NOW. 🫵
Thanks to and for having us!
