Hemorrhoids are more common than you think — and they don’t always need surgery.

Hemorrhoidal disease is the most common anorectal condition, affecting millions worldwide. Chronic bleeding is the primary symptom of internal hemorrhoids and can be associated with prolapse or pain — making it a significant medical and quality-of-life issue.

For many, symptoms improve with simple measures like: • Increasing fiber and water intake • Avoiding straining or prolonged sitting • Using over-the-counter creams or suppositories

But when bleeding symptoms persist or keep coming back, there’s now a minimally invasive alternative to surgery.

🩸 Hemorrhoid Artery Embolization (HAE) targets the blood vessels feeding the hemorrhoids using tiny catheters and X-ray guidance — no cutting, no stitches, no general anesthesia.

Patients go home the same day and return to normal activities quickly, with durable relief from bleeding and discomfort.

This treatment is performed right here at Richmond Vascular Center, where our interventional radiologists specialize exclusively in embolization procedures.

Drs. Strife and McLaurin have over 25 years of combined experience performing embolizations, now offered in a dedicated outpatient setting to maximize comfort, safety, and outcomes.
