A REVOLUTION IN EDUCATION
The discovery that the child has a mind able to absorb on its own account produces a revolution in education. We can now understand easily why the first period in human development, in which character is formed, is the most important. At no other age has the child greater need of an intelligent help, and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has of achieving perfection. We should help the child…because he is endowed with great creative energies, which are of their nature so fragile as to need a loving and intelligent defence. To these energies we want to bring help… When we understand that the energies belong to an unconscious mind, which has to become conscious through work and through an experience of life gained in the world, we realize that the mind of the child in infancy is different from ours, that we cannot reach it by verbal instruction, nor intervene directly in the process of its passing from the unconscious to the conscious – the process of making human faculty – then the whole concept of education changes. It becomes a matter of giving help to the child’s life, to the psychological development of man…
This is the new path on which education has been put; to help the mind in its process of development, to aid its energies and strengthen its many powers. Thought for the weekend...

When we birth, we don’t just birth babies.

We birth ourselves, we birth our families and we reshape our lives.

It’s so important to get good information on which to base pregnancy and birth decisions.

Because they can affect us for a very long time.

Perhaps the rest of your life.

It's also important to understand that it doesn't matter what the guideline says, or what anyone else thinks.

What matters is what's right for you.

This quote comes from one of my books, which helps people understand birth-related decision making and how to navigate your options.

it's called What's Right For Me? Making decisions in pregnancy and childbirth.

This quote is worth digesting. Eat up... 🌿

A baby’s cry is a biological signal that their body is in distress and they need support.

In early development, their brain relies on these moments to shape how it responds to the world. When a caregiver consistently shows up, the brain begins to wire for safety, connection, and trust.

When those cries are ignored, the baby’s body stays flooded with stress, and the brain starts preparing for a world where needs go unmet. This affects how they regulate emotion, how they seek comfort, and how they form relationships—often in ways that are hard to undo.

Always tend to your little one’s physical and emotional needs. Their future depends on it.

Honoring Birth

Women supporting other women through labor is an ageless tradition common to all cultures.

Since 1990 I have been honored to serve women and their partners during pregnancy, labor, birth, and in the postpartum period. My work as a birthkeeper also extends to homebirths, where I attend as a midwife assistant.

I provide my experience and support, as well as acting as a mediator, making sure that you are aware of your options so that you can make informed decisions regarding your care. I help to ensure that your needs are met while enhancing communication and understanding between you and your caregivers.

I believe that birth is a natural and sacred event, which should be respected, and that women have the wisdom and power to initiate themselves into motherhood, and that the services of a Birth Doula can greatly influence the course of birth, for the mutual benefit of the mother, father, and baby.
