It's okay to put yourself first. Taking care of your mental health isn't selfish, it's necessary. đź’™

If you need someone to talk to, you can always call or text the 988 Lifeline or chat with a caring counselor online at 988lifeline.org. You don't have to go through this alone.

Sometimes depression looks like getting through the day while quietly feeling pulled under, disconnected, or exhausted beneath the surface.

You don’t have to keep treading water on your own. Therapy can offer a space to come up for air and find steadier ground.

Friday check-in before you head into the weekend 🤍

Before your schedule fills up, pause and ask yourself:
✨ What do I actually need this weekend?
✨ What would feel restorative—not just productive?
✨ Where might I need a boundary?

Self-care isn’t one-size-fits-all, and there are several types you deserve to maintain:
Physical • Social • Spiritual • Mental • Emotional

And boundaries are what protect all of it.

Self-care can look like:
— Saying “no” without over-explaining
— Leaving space in your schedule to breathe
— Not overcommitting just to avoid guilt
— Choosing who you spend time with
— Letting yourself rest without earning it

You don’t have to be available to everyone.
You don’t have to pour from an empty cup.

This weekend, choose:
1 area of self-care to pour into & 1 boundary to support it.

Small boundaries build self-trust 🤍

💬What’s one boundary you know you need this weekend—but feel hesitant to set? ⬇️

đź”· DBT Skills : Core Assumptions in DBT.
🔷 Dr. Marsha Linehan’s idea that “people are doing the best they can” sits at the heart of Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

🔷 This doesn’t mean that people’s actions are always effective or acceptable, but rather that, in any given moment, their behaviour reflects the limits of their current skills, emotional state, and life circumstances.

🔷 From this perspective, harmful or unhelpful behaviors are not about laziness or lack of effort—they’re often the result of a lack of coping skills, overwhelming emotions, or past learning/conditioning.

đź”· This important core assumption encourages compassion and reduces judgment, while still leaving room for change.

🔷 If someone is doing the best they can and things aren’t working, then the focus shifts to helping them build better skills and support systems so they can do better moving forward.

As a therapist, I often see couples not because of one major issue but more for patterns that have been building over time.

These common themes can feel confusing and isolating, especially when you’re not sure what the rooted causes are.

The good news is these patterns are workable. With the right support, couples can begin to understand each other more deeply and rebuild connection in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable 🤍

Infertility is often talked about in terms of medical causes and while understanding these factors can be important, they are only one part of the experience.

For many people, infertility can also bring emotional and relational challenges, grief, uncertainty, stress, and shifts in identity. These parts are not always visible, but they are very real.

Infertility Awareness Month is an opportunity to better understand both the medical and emotional sides of this experience.

If this is something you or someone you love is navigating, support can extend beyond medical care. There is space to process, to talk, and to feel supported through every part of the journey. đź’ś
