Honored to officially announce that I’ll be speaking at the 2026 ATN Innovation Summit in New York City this June!

As a Board Certified Light Therapist (CLT), salon owner, educator, and wellness advocate, I’m excited to be part of the conversation surrounding innovation, light therapy, recovery, wellness technology, and the future of our industry.

There is so much growth happening in the wellness and performance space right now, and I’m looking forward to sharing real-world insight on responsible, science-backed light therapy integration, client education, and creating better outcomes through technology and training.

☀️ A quick note about UV timing at Sunny Shores:

All of our staff are Sun is Life certified, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This means when we make suggestions about your tanning time, exposure schedule, or UV unit use, those suggestions are being made carefully, thoughtfully, and with your skin safety in mind.

If we lower your time because you have not visited in a week or more, it is not to be difficult. It is because we are helping prevent overexposure, especially in powerful units like our ridiculously strong K11 Air.

The Health Department requires us to follow exposure guidelines based on Fitzpatrick skin type, your recent tanning history, and the unit being used.

We also strongly suggest spacing UV exposure every 48 hours whenever possible. This helps your skin build color more safely while reducing the risk of burning or overexposure.

Thank you for understanding that our goal is always to help you tan smarter, safer, and with the best possible results. ☀️

Seeing a LOT of red from sunburns after yesterday’s sunshine ☀️🔥

Friendly reminder: a burn is not a “base tan.” A burn is skin damage.

Over the next few days, your goal should be calming, hydrating, protecting, and giving your skin time to recover.

✨ Skip tanning until ALL redness is completely gone, then wait one extra day before returning. When you do come back, lower your tanning time. Do not pick up where you left off.

✨ Red and infrared light therapy may be a helpful part of a recovery routine because many people use it to support stressed skin, calm the appearance of redness, and encourage healthier looking skin.

✨ Pair light therapy with skin-quenching products. We recommend Rewind & Reset before light sessions and Beauty Balm after, along with aloe based moisturizers when needed.

✨ Stop in daily for Hydrate sprays. Hydrate’s patented Tri-Hydro Boost Complex™ uses three unique molecular weights of hyaluronic acid designed to target multiple layers of the skin. It helps hydrate, moisturize, soothe, and support the skin barrier.

✨ If you are outside, protect the burn. Wear SPF clothing, hats, and shade whenever possible. Mineral based SPF with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide is my personal preference because it physically helps block UV on the skin’s surface.

Chemical sunscreens work differently by absorbing UV and converting it through a chemical reaction in the skin. Some people tolerate them fine, but others do not, and there is growing concern around certain chemical sunscreen ingredients. The best SPF is one that protects well, agrees with your skin, and is actually used correctly. We like mineral based.

Most importantly: do not ignore a burn and do not repeat it. Give your skin the time it needs to heal, hydrate like crazy, and protect it before going back into the sun.

Your skin is an investment. Protect it. ☀️
