26.2 for Children 26.2 for Children is a charitable organization that aims to raise money for Children's hospitals around the U.S. by engaging the community in active events

by engaging the community in active events. It all started with the 2013 Boston Marathon and has spiraled into an incredible passion to raise money for different children's hospitals around the country. Founder Bobby O'Donnell promised friends, family, and many sick children that he would raise $5,000 for Children's Hospital Boston by running the 2013 Boston Marathon. Bobby was 0.6 miles from the finish line when the bombs went off and did not finish his race. To him, this meant an unkept promise, and he vowed to return to finish the race in 2014 and raise even more money for Children's Hospital Boston. To date over $15,000 has been raised. As we expand our hope is to reach out to various children's hospitals to help ease the emotional and financial burden placed on the sick children and their families. Bobby is now running marathons on every continent to raise awareness for the organization and rejuvenate a passion for running that was marred by the terrorist attacks at Boston in 2013. The most recent continent completed was Antarctica this past January. Currently, an annual golf tournament is held to raise money for 26.2 for Children. Last years event was located at TPC Boston. A polar plunge is being planned for the winter as well; potentially one in Massachusetts and another in New Hampshire. Please continue to check in for new details! A road race is also being planned for within the next year. As an organization, we aren't asking for handouts. We want people to come out, have fun, and be socially engaged while helping raise money for an incredible cause. Children's hospitals are a truly magical place with unbelievable caring staff and children that deserve every penny we can raise. Don't be confused by our name 26.2 for Children. What originally started as a name representing money raised through the Boston Marathon, has taken on a new meaning. The 26.2 in our name now stands for the marathon that every sick child has to struggle through on their road to recovery. And that is harder than any marathon we could ever run. We want anyone who is willing to become a part of our team to help us continue our efforts in any distance race they are participating in. We are setting up our fundraising page through Go Fund Me in hope to have a program for any runner wishing to help our efforts. Please stay tuned for details as we are in our early stages of planning. This organization is in it's infancy, but that does not devalue our passion and mission to help sick children everyday, as best we can, one step at a time.

A Go Fund Me page has been established to handle all donations on a daily basis. Bobby O'Donnell will discuss this live tonight on NECN's The Take with Sue O'Connell at 6PM. Tune in if you can!

This page will now be updated more frequently with exciting updates as things with 26.2 for Children crank into high gear to develop this organization to the next level. 501(c)(3) paper work is being filed to make this an official non-profit eligible for tax-deductbable donations!

Excited to announce the date of the 2015 26.2 for Children Charity Golf Tournament! The event will be held on July 19 at TPC Boston in Norton, MA. We are very grateful to the people over at TPC for allowing us to come back and play a beautiful, private PGA golf course! Cost will be $175 which will include golf, cart, and tee gift. Dinner and drinks may be purchased in the clubhouse restaurant after your golf. There will also be the option to purchase a Scotty Cameron putter with a custom 26.2 for Children head cover designed by talented Venezuelan artist Enrique Romero. Cost is $250 and will benefit the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

If you cannot make it to the golf tournament and would like to contribute, please visit my fundraising page. I will be raising money for the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute this year to benefit children and adults alike in there fight against cancer! On a recent trip to Nicaragua I stopped by a small village in a rural part of the country to view some geothermal vents that have developed there. A small 10 year old girl named Crystal walked up and asked if we needed a guide. She held our hands and led us to the vents. This little girl from an impoverished village was so happy with what little she had and it was very humbling to say the least. Throughout our conversation she pointed to my 26.2 for Children wristband and said "Muy bonita!". She said she does not see much blue "jewelry". I took it off and put it around her ankle because it was too big for her wrist. You would've thought I had given her a million dollars. So now our support extends to Nicaragua. Take some time to appreciate the simple things in life today, and go Pats!

It has been a while since the last post but we have certainly been busy. This years golf tournament is currently being scheduled and will once again be held at TPC Boston. Look for registration information in the coming days. In the meantime, here is a video that explains how this organization came to be given in Columbus, Ohio this past September. Please check in for updates for upcoming events benefitting Children's hospitals around the United States. Our current focus is Children's Hospital Boston. To date we have raised over $11,000! Throughout the next few weeks we will be creating our website and fundraising page to further our efforts in easing the financial and emotional burden placed upon those sick children and their families. We currently host an annual golf tournament in early June and will be having our First Annual Polar Plunge this winter. Our goal is to continue to raise money for children's hospitals by encouraging communities to participate in fun, active events. Thank for your continued support and stay tuned for updates!
