The Beta Program supports complex pediatric behavioral and mental health; merging applied neuroscience, functional medicine, applied behavior analysis, integrative therapies and traditional clinical practice to create an individualized approach for each family. We support many different families and each one is unique. While we specialize in specific areas, we are always open to supporting families who may be seeking guidance for different developmental, behavioral and mental health profiles. School Refusal

TBP promotes a neurodiversity and sensory affirming atmosphere both within the practice and in our community. We believe that emotional regulation is built through relationships, not through compliance. While we do offer ABA, our goal is to support both the unique characteristics of all neurotypes and the voice of the Autistic community. Therefore, we do not practice or support a compliance-based approach. We are proud to be an approved independent provider of Mendability©; an evidenced based, clinically validated therapy for improving brain plasticity, helping to improve areas such as emotional regulation, sleep, learning, attention, and motor control.

Only a few more weeks! This month we get to celebrate all of our rare disease families, those who come here with an established diagnosis and the ones who came to us with "behavior", "mental health", and developmental disorders and now know why we fight so hard for root cause.

Awareness is key for both timely identification and treatment. You can't find it if you don't know it exists. Share your stripes on Feb 28! National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD)

In the countdown to Rare Disease Day 2025, we are highlighting one rare disease per day, specifically ones that might be misdiagnosed as behavior, mental health, or a developmental disorder!

First up: WILSON'S Disease

🌟 Understanding Wilson's Disease in Children and Adolescents:

Wilson's Disease is a rare genetic disorder that causes copper to build up in the body, leading to a dangerous buildup in the liver and brain. Its impact on the brain can result in a wide variety of symptoms that may look like mental health or developmental issues, especially in children and adolescents, making early diagnosis tricky. 🧠

If caught early, Wilson’s Disease is treatable with medications that help remove excess copper from the body. Early intervention is crucial in preventing severe cognitive decline and neurological damage.

Here’s a closer look at some of the symptoms that might be seen in young people with Wilson's Disease:

38 days to go until Rare Disease Day 2025! National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD)

Did you know that 70% of genetic rare diseases start in childhood? Many of these mimic Autism profiles, mental health disorders, and developmental delays. Often encompassing neuropsychiatric, behavioral, motor, and/or speech symptoms that land with mental health providers instead of a medical team, recognition on our end is so important for early diagnosis and intervention.
