We invite employees, patients and community members to experience the Light the World Giving Machine, an interactive way to give back this holiday season. The Giving Machine functions like a vending machine, but instead of snacks or drinks, participants “purchase” meaningful items for individuals and families in need. Options range from basic necessities to programs that support health, housing and humanitarian aid.

The Giving Machine will be located on the NKC Health hospital campus, Building 2790, 1st Floor Lobby on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Clinical Documentation Specialist, Debra Stripling, was our June Employee of the Month. She has been an employee at NKC Health for 35 years.

May Employee of the Month, Ann Thomason, RN, serves as the primary charge nurse for preop and recovery in 2790. She has been an employee at NKC Health for 33 years.

Access to quality maternal care shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code. Yet for many families in rural northwest Missouri, limited health care options have long meant traveling hours for prenatal visits or delivery. Thanks to an innovative partnership between Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany, Mo., and NKC Health in North Kansas City, Mo., that reality is changing.

On November 7, NKC Health recognized seven graduates for completing the Medical Assistant Academy.

Congratulations to Leone Adkins, Stephanie McDowell, Tia Veals, Brittany Susano-Aguirre, Miah Johnson, Courtney Daniel and Bri Moye. 🎉

Medical assistants serve a valuable role in the clinics, as they prepare patients for exams, take vitals, gather health history, administer injections and vaccines, assist with procedures, perform administrative duties and update and verify patient information.

Sunflower winner Paul Rocha was recognized for his support of an autistic patient who was struggling to adjust to the hospital setting. He walked with the restless patient for over an hour, providing calm reassurance the entire time.
