Hello KP Family,

You make recall a few weeks ago I posted about a family from our practice that lost their home and all their belongings in a fire. This is a single mom with four children. The family has not been able to access insurance funds at this time. If you would like to support them during this very difficult time, there are two options:

1) Venmo: (last 4 digits-5680)

2) Amazon Christmas wish list put together by an amazing teen in our community: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3DCWLUUQ82NK7?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_VC5PA472FZX1N0K5ZW54

We are deeply thankful that we have such amazing community. Thank you for coming together to help this family in need.

With love,

Cait and the KP Team

Dear Kingstown Pediatrics Family,

I reach out to you today to share the story of a family in our practice who suffered an unimaginable loss. Last week, a fire devastated their home, and while we are grateful that all family members escaped safely, the mother and her four children are now living in a one-room hotel room, facing the challenges of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

As they navigate this difficult time, they are in urgent need of food gift cards, as the insurance process is still being sorted out. Additionally, the mother, who is a dedicated nurse, is unable to return to work until their situation stabilizes.

After experiencing a similar loss myself three years ago, our community became a beacon of hope and strength for my family, and I know we can do the same for this family in need.

If you feel moved to help, any donations would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to this family. Donations can be dropped off at our office, and every little bit will make a significant difference.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. Together, we can help this family find their way back to stability and joy.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Cait and the KP Team

🌟 Protect Your Family from Influenza and RSV! 🌟

As we enter October, we want to remind our patients about the importance of protecting children from significant respiratory illness. Here are some key points to consider:

1. Influenza Vaccine:
*Who Should Get It?: Recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older.
*Importance: The flu can lead to severe complications, especially in young children. Last year, over 80% of pediatric deaths from influenza occurred in UNVACCINATED children. Protecting your child with the flu vaccine can significantly reduce their risk of severe illness and hospitalization.

2. RSV Prevention:
*Who Should Get It?: Infants under 8 months old.
*Season Timing: The monoclonal antibody Beyfortus (nirsevimab), is recommended before the onset of RSV season, which typically runs from fall through spring, to help shield infants from this serious respiratory virus.

3. What are RSV and the influenza?
*Influenza: A contagious virus that can cause symptoms ranging from mild respiratory issues to severe pneumonia. Complications can be particularly severe in young children, older adults, and those with chronic health conditions.
*RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus): A common virus that primarily affects infants and young children, leading to bronchiolitis and pneumonia. RSV is responsible for about 57,000 hospitalizations and hundreds of deaths among children under 5 in the U.S. every year. Beyfortus can provide vital protection.

Vaccines are safe, effective, and life-saving. Don’t wait—call us today to schedule your family’s vaccinations and help us keep our community healthy!

Hello KP family ☺️, As cold and flu season approaches, we kindly request that you confirm your annual well visits prior to your child's appointment. Our providers are very busy this time of year, and same-day cancellations reduce available sick visits.

Thank you for understanding. Stay Healthy 🫶🏼
