I am trained in EMDR therapy, which can help you reprocess painful experiences in a safe and supportive way. This approach can reduce the emotional intensity of a wide range of traumas—including single-episode traumas - so you’re no longer feeling stuck in the past. My goal is to help you find more relief, clarity, and calm as you move forward. Single-episode traumas are events that happen once (or over a short, discrete period) but can still have a lasting emotional impact. Common examples include:
- Car or motor vehicle accidents
- Physical assault or mugging
- Sexual assault or r**e
- Sudden medical emergencies (heart attack, ICU stay, emergency surgery)
- Natural disasters (tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, fires)
- Witnessing a violent or life-threatening event
- Sudden death of a loved one
- Workplace accidents or injuries
- Dog bites or serious animal attacks
- Home invasions or burglary while present
- Near-drowning or other life-threatening accidents
- Severe panic attacks or medical scares that felt life-threatening.
Even when these experiences are time-limited, the nervous system can store them as ongoing threat memories, which is why they may continue to affect someone long after the event.
