Embarking on a therapeutic journey can be a voyage into unknown waters. It's within this shared exploration that I, as a psychotherapist, strive to act as a steadfast guide, fostering an environment of trust and openness, where my clients can feel secure and understood. My approach is gentle and supportive, yet unafraid to be direct when the path calls for it. The essence of this practice stems from a fundamental belief in collaboration, a mutual endeavor aimed at understanding and conquering the challenges faced by my clients.
My aspiration as a mental health professional is not to act as the sole helmsman, but rather to equip each client with their own compass and map, empowering them to chart the course of their emotional and psychological wellbeing. I envision my role as a facilitator, providing the tools for navigation, nurturing resilience, and confidence, fostering the hope that each person I work with becomes, ultimately, the master of their own internal universe.

I am quite certain that it is through the experience of the ups and downs in this human experience that we have an innate ability to learn and understand how the world in its mysteries and curious ways that are often so profound and immensely meaningful that it can only become a part of the totality of this experience that music and resilience are so intimately intertwined, each one fueling the other to be a creative force that is a true life worth celebrating in and living.

My journey as a therapist has been deeply influenced by a passion for understanding human emotions and experiences. This passion, coupled with a lifelong dedication to music, has allowed me to create a unique therapeutic approach that harnesses the transformative power of melody and rhythm.
In my work, I have been privileged to witness the profound connection that exists between our internal experiences and the world around us. This connection is beautifully expressed through music, a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. It offers a safe medium through which individuals can explore their emotional landscapes, navigate complex internal terrains, and process difficult emotions.
The intricate interplay between music and emotions has been instrumental in shaping my therapeutic practice. Today, I'd like to share the story of how my love for music led me to become the "accidental therapist" that I am today.
For as long as I can remember, I've been passionate about music. It has always been a way for me to express myself and to connect with others. Little did I know that my life would take a turn in my 40s, leading me to explore the depths of the human mind and the healing powers of music.
It all started when I became curious about the intersection between music and healing. I wanted to understand how these two seemingly different worlds could come together to create something incredibly powerful. This curiosity led me to the field of medical ethnomusicology - the study of music's role in health and well-being across cultures.
I decided to dive deeper into this subject, and before I knew it, I was pursuing an additional master's degree. The more I learned, the more I felt a calling to help others through the transformative power of music. This newfound passion ultimately led me to explore the field of mental health therapy.
To become a licensed mental health therapist, I had to obtain another master's degree. This was a significant career shift for me, but it felt right. I was eager to learn and grow, and I was willing to embrace the unknown.
As I progressed through my studies, I began to realize that my musical background was an invaluable asset. The skills I had developed as a pianist and composer allowed me to approach therapy from a unique perspective. I found that I could connect with my clients on a deeper level by incorporating music into our sessions. This became the foundation of my therapeutic approach.
Now, as a psychotherapist, I have the incredible privilege of helping others on their journey to self-discovery, healing, and growth. The marriage of music and therapy has proven to be a powerful tool in my practice, and I am continually amazed by the transformative effects it has on my clients.

Rituals are repetitive behaviors or actions performed with a specific purpose or meaning, often to alleviate anxiety or discomfort. In some cases, rituals can be considered adaptive and serve a functional role in one's life, such as personal hygiene routines or daily meditation practices. However, when rituals become excessive, rigid, or interfere with a person's daily functioning, they can evolve into maladaptive behaviors that negatively affect their mental health.
Obsessions, on the other hand, are persistent and intrusive thoughts, images, or impulses that cause significant distress or anxiety. Obsessions can be related to various themes, such as contamination, harm, orderliness, or religious and moral concerns. While everyone may experience occasional intrusive thoughts, obsessions are characterized by their frequency, intensity, and the distress they cause, often leading individuals to engage in compulsive behaviors or rituals to neutralize their anxiety.
In the context of mental health, rituals and obsessions are most commonly associated with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is characterized by the presence of obsessions and/or compulsions that cause significant distress, consume a considerable amount of time, and interfere with a person's daily functioning. It is essential for mental health professionals to differentiate between adaptive rituals or occasional intrusive thoughts and the maladaptive patterns indicative of OCD.

Expressive arts therapy is a therapeutic approach that integrates various art forms, such as visual arts, music, dance, drama, writing, and other creative modalities, to promote emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. This practice encourages self-expression, self-discovery, and personal growth, differentiating it from other creative therapies that focus on a single art form or modality.
The integrative and flexible nature of expressive arts therapy makes it uniquely suited to complement trauma-focused interventions. Trauma often affects individuals' ability to verbalize their experiences and emotions. Expressive arts therapy allows for non-verbal expression, enabling clients to process and communicate their experiences through various creative outlets. By incorporating multiple art forms, this therapy offers a holistic approach, allowing clients to find the most suitable modality to explore and express their feelings, thoughts, and memories related to trauma. This variety ensures that clients can engage with the therapy at their own pace and comfort level.
Moreover, the creative process involved in expressive arts therapy can help individuals develop self-regulation skills, which are crucial for managing the emotional dysregulation that often accompanies trauma.
