THROWBACK THURSDAY: In January 2025, we shared how a remarkable lady, lovingly called Miss Inez by her community, came out of retirement to become a CNA for our Monticello Area Office – and soon afterward experienced our care from a new perspective when a beloved uncle suffered a major stroke. Since then, Inez has been named a recipient of the inaugural Shellam Flake LifeTouch Service Awards. On his 100th birthday, Mr. Ramsey shared his story — from growing up during the Great Depression in Arkansas to joining the U.S. Navy just days after high school. Have you ever wondered about the difference between hospice care and palliative care? While there are several factors, this graphic offers a simple explanation. LifeTouch Health provides both types of care to help our fellow Arkansans live life to the fullest – often in their homes, on their terms.

As Arkansas Hospice’s Family of Care is becoming LifeTouch Health, we are offering more services and impacting more lives in more ways. We now provide a continuum of care that includes:

• Personal care providing in-home, non-medical support in Greater Little Rock, Searcy, and Hot Springs. You have known this service as First Choice Senior Care.
• Primary care for seniors, where they live. This line of care has been known as Arkansas Advanced Care.
• Palliative care to partner with doctors and specialists to provide patient-centered care at any stage of serious illness. You have known this service as Arkansas Palliative Care.
• Hospice care for patients and families when time may be limited. This line of care has been known as Arkansas Hospice.

Did you know that our LifeTouch Health logo is a sunrise – rather than a sunset as many might presume? As we mark our 34th anniversary today, this is an excellent opportunity to reflect on this symbol, which was inspired by a passage from the Gospel of Luke. The late Michael Aureli, who co-founded our organization with Dee Brazil-Dale, explained the sunrise logo in May 2008 by saying, “Arkansas Hospice is called to be a tender ray of compassion and hope shining upon those who dwell in the shadow of death.” While the logo has been refreshed a few times over the years, the image of a sunrise has remained constant.

Today, as Arkansas Hospice is becoming LifeTouch Health, this sunrise represents the LifeTouch Health Foundation and our entire continuum of care, which includes:

• Personal care providing in-home, non-medical support in Greater Little Rock, Searcy, and Hot Springs. You have known this service as First Choice Senior Care.
• Primary care for seniors, where they live. This line of care has been known as Arkansas Advanced Care.
• Palliative care to partner with doctors and specialists to provide patient-centered care at any stage of serious illness. You have known this service as Arkansas Palliative Care.
• Hospice care for patients and families when time may be limited. This line of care has been known as Arkansas Hospice.

Thank you to all the employees, volunteers, and donors who continue to make our mission possible – and to all of you who have trusted us with caring for your loved ones. With your continued support, we can touch even more lives in the years ahead.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: With this Saturday, Jan. 17, being our 34th anniversary, this is the perfect opportunity to highlight Dee Brazil-Dale, who co-founded Arkansas Hospice with the late Michael Aureli. Please click below to revisit this post, first shared in 2022 for our 30th anniversary, that features a special video of Dee telling about the early days of our organization, how she met Michael Aureli, and her personal journey of loss and love. Thank you, Dee, for all that you have done – and continue to do – for our mission, as Arkansas Hospice becomes LifeTouch Health!

Dee Brazil-Dale has devoted most of her adult life to being a passionate advocate for hospice care. She first felt led to volunteer at a small, non-profit hospice in McCall, Idaho, after the sudden loss of her son, Mark Alvarado, in a vehicle accident when he was only 19 years old. “He was a great...
