For over 40 years, his unmistakable voice carried through our homes, especially on those rainy Sunday mornings, filling the airwaves with soul, calm, and connection.

At 73 years old, he leaves behind a legacy of music, culture, and community. To borrow his own words: “We love you, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.”

When you have $101 billion, this is how you change the world...

Alice Walton, currently the world's richest woman with an estimated net worth of $101 billion, opened the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) in Bentonville, Arkansas in July 2025. She's covering tuition completely free for the first five graduating classes.

The school accepted just 48 students from over 2,000 applicants - less than 3% acceptance rate. Arkansas ranks 48th out of 50 states in adult health, making this mission particularly crucial.

Walton's vision was shaped by her own experience - a serious car accident in the 1980s led to years of surgeries and health issues, showing her how "broken" the healthcare system was. The school trains students in preventive medicine and whole-health principles, focusing on keeping patients healthy rather than just treating symptoms.

Students begin community service on their third day, and many are specifically interested in serving underserved areas in Arkansas. The school is located next to Walton's Crystal Bridges Museum, and the curriculum integrates arts and humanities to develop empathy.

Using wealth to create healthier communities - now that's a legacy worth building.
