❄️ Winter Weather Pro Tips for People in Recovery ❄️
Winter weather can mess with more than just the roads. It can mess with routines, connection, and mental health. A few reminders as we prepare for whatever Arkansas decides to throw at us:
• Plan your meetings now. Know which ones are virtual, which are still meeting in person, and have backup options saved.
• Don’t isolate. Snow days and ice can turn into lonely days real fast. Text someone in recovery before you feel the urge to disappear.
• Stick to a loose routine. Sleep, eat, hydrate, repeat. Structure matters even when the world slows down.
• Watch the winter blues. Seasonal depression is real and it can whisper lies that sound like cravings. Talk about it.
• Have a recovery emergency kit. Phone numbers, meeting links, grounding tools, snacks, meds, and a reminder of why you stay.
• Ask for help early. This is not the season to white-knuckle anything.
If the weather keeps you home, outpatient and recovery support don’t stop. We’re still here. You don’t have to do this alone.
Stay safe. Stay connected. Stay sober. 💙
